Corvette's newest addition

Rick Hendrick Takes Delivery of a New Z06

NASCAR‘s Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motorsports made a visit to the Museum to take delivery of his new Z06 Corvette today.

Rick along with a team of Lowe’s representatives and friends, spent the day touring the Museum and Corvette Assembly Plant and created quite a stir with the special Corvettes they had transported to us to display outside for a commemorative photo of the occasion. Rick is the owner of a 1991 ZR-1, noted as the first to come off the line for production and together with his new Z06, which also has been noted as the first retail production Z06 model off the line, was photographed with a GTP racer owned by Hendrick and the 2006 Daytona Pace Car Corvette. “I love Corvettes and what the Museum stands for,” Henderick told us. “Being here today at the home of Corvette with my buddies is just such a great feeling. I am just thrilled to be here.” Local media and regional guests came to see the exciting outdoor display and to meet and greet these guests.

C5/C6 Bash – What a Blast

If you were part of the C5/C6 Bash over the weekend, then you know that it was a wonderful start to a full event season at the Museum.

Participants enjoyed informative seminars, road tours and banquets, autographs sessions with Corvette engineers and Corvette Race Team members, along with a viewing of the newest color addition to the C6 line-up. Two new raffle winners were drawn as part of the event festivities and congratulations goes to Resa Miller of Selman, OK drawn as the winner of our Silver C6 Coupe and Ron Adamo of Sterling Heights, MI the winner of our “Build Your Own” C6! Both winners will be taking delivery of their new Corvettes at the Museum in the next few weeks. Thank you to everyone who participated in the raffle fundraisers and to everyone who joined us at the event. David Hill Appreciation and Corvette Racing Tribute DVDs Available

As part of the Bash event, an evening was spent honoring David Hill for his contributions to the Museum and another to pay tribute to the Corvette Race Team for their 2005 accomplishments.

Each of these evening affairs showcased an exciting and commemorative DVD presentation and you can add either of these DVDs to your collection in return for a $25 donation per copy to the Museum’s Building Campaign. Reserve a copy of each by contacting Connie Russell or Pam Pillow at (800) 53-VETTE.

Corvette Plant Breaks Build Numbers

Corvette Racing Team Member Spins the Wheel of Fortune

Steve Wesoloski, Road Racing Group Manager, GM Racing, made his "fortune" not with a steering wheel in his hand, but with the money wheel on one of TV's most popular game shows, "Wheel of Fortune."

The show aired on April 24 after being taped in early February. Wesoloski won more than $26,000 in cash and prizes but did not win the bonus round, because he was unable to decipher the "person" phrase - "Civil War Buff." He did win an African Safari plus a second trip, to the Turks and Caicos Islands along with $8,500 in cash. "I'm really looking forward to the Turks and Caicos trip," Wesoloski said. "Our program manager for Team Corvette, Doug Fehan, has been there and he mentioned to me that I just might not want to come back." Way to spin the wheel Steve!

Heartbeat in the Heartland Tour Recognized in Stone

Heartbeat in the Heartland tour coordinators Bill and Bobbie Weir along with Randy Pierce were recognized at the Bash event for their hard work in helping to make the tour such a success.

A large commemorative brick was placed in the front walkway of the Museum honoring the trio’s efforts. “It took a lot more than the three of us to make this thing work,” Bill tearfully shared with us. “We have to thank every one of the volunteers who jumped in to meet us at all the stops and help.” If you were part of the Heartbeat in the Heartland excitement and would like to purchase a brick to be placed in the Heartbeat brick area, contact our membership department at: (800) 53-VETTE or place your order online at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/brick/index.shtml Please designate that your brick should be placed in Heartbeat in the Heartland section.
