Lone Star Corvette Club Joins One Acre Club

Members of the Texas-based Lone Star Corvette Club had a dream - a dream of owning a Motorsports Park... well, maybe just part of a Motorsports Park, but definitely to help build a fun place for driving.

Club President Linda Shellberg said, "The Motorsports Park at the National Corvette Museum will be a wonderful place to improve your driving skills and engage in some friendly competition. Seeing LSCC listed as a major contributor to the Park will be a great legacy."

While their August club newsletter included information on the park and a solicitation to members to help contribute to it - the group was able to join our "One Acre Club" quicker than they imagined - contacting the Museum on July 28 to announce that they had raised the $15,000.

Thanks to the Lone Star Corvette Club for their continuous support of the Museum, and if you haven't visited the Motorsports Park Website lately - check out the new look here!

Complimentary Travel Publication Offered to Corvette Clubs

Do you help plan trips and road tours for your Corvette Club? If so, here's a complimentary printed publication you can subscribe to!

Our friends at Group Travel Leader asked us to reach out to Corvette Clubs and let them know about this opportunity. The Group Travel Leader is a monthly, full color publication offering travel ideas for groups.

No matter which part of the United States your club is based in, they offer ideas for numerous destinations. This is also a great resource for those planning Caravans!

You can preview an electronic version of this publication online here, and to request a FREE subscription for your club, visit Group Travel Leader online here.

100 Years of Chevrolet Exhibit Open

Chevrolet’s first car pulled onto the auto scene like a decked-out debutante. Race-car driver Louis Chevrolet imagined an upscale dream car based on the racing cars he loved. The Series C Classic Six produced 40 horsepower and could go a whopping 65 miles per hour, competing with the high-performance cars of its time. For the first couple of years, it was simply called “the Chevrolet.” While Chevrolet co-founder Bill Durant would quickly shift the company toward affordability, performance would stay at the heart of Chevrolet for a century to come.

The Museum welcomes a special 14-car exhibit now through December 31, 2011 featuring a 1912 Little, 1928 Phaeton Touring Car, 1935 Standard Coach, 1936 Canopy Express Pick-up, 1942 Special DeLuxe ‘War Car’, 1955 Bel Air, 1958 Impala, 1964 Corvair, 1965 Chevelle 300, 1970 Chevelle, 1987 Monte Carlo, 1996 Camaro, 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette and a 2012 Volt.

Make plans to come see this outstanding display!

Last Chance on Event Registrations!

Pacific Coast Highway / R8C Reunion September 25-30

Take a scenic trip down the California coast! Visit the famed Hearst Castle, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Vision Quest Ranch, Carmel, China Beach and so much more! While this event is titled R8C/Xperience Reunion, you do not have to be a participant of those programs to attend. There will also be a caravan from the east coast out to the west coast for those traveling that direction. Registration ends MONDAY! Check out the complete agenda online here.

Can't make the drive to North Carolina or California? Consider flying out and renting a car! Metal cars are always welcome, they just have to travel at the back of the pack!

17th Anniversary Celebration and Hall of Fame Induction September 1-3

A "fan favorite" event, the Museum's Anniversary Celebration is just a few weeks away and is jam packed with road tours, seminars, dinners and more. If you haven't registered, you need to do so by next Wednesday, August 17 or you'll miss out on the cool event lapel pin and dash plaque! Check out the agenda here.

Seeking 1958 and 1968 Corvettes

Bowling Green loves Corvettes, and that fact will be even more evident next spring when our new performing arts center, SKYPAC opens. As a nod to Corvette, SKYPAC architects have selected Corvette colors for the design - 1958's Regal Turquoise and 1968's Cordovan Maroon.

If you have either of these year/color Corvettes, they would like to invite you to an opening night gala March 2012 for a special Corvette display. Please contact Marissa Butler with the Bowling Green Visitors Bureau if you or anyone you know owns either of these cars at 270-782-0800 or 800-538-3883 or marissa@visitbgky.com.
