Two Chances to Win a New Corvette At The Corvette Celebration

Corvette's newest addition

Corvette Racing Finished 1-2 At Road America

A .132-second victory by Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta in the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R over their Corvette Racing teammates Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell mathematically clinched the GT1 Manufacturers Championship for Chevrolet and the team championship for Corvette Racing.

"Chevrolet races to win in every series, so it's a great day when Chevy wraps up its fifth consecutive ALMS manufacturers championship," said Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan. "There was some intense, exciting racing on the track. If the race had gone one more lap, the outcome might have been different." Congratulations to the Corvette Race Team! For the complete release visit: www.corvetteracing.com

Corvette Racing's next event is the Labor Day Weekend Grand Prix of Mosport in Bowmanville, Ont., on September 2-4. The eighth round of the 10-race American Le Mans Series will be televised live on SPEED Channel on Sunday, September 4, at 3 p.m. EDT (check local listings).

Corvette Honored At Commemorative Stamp Ceremony

Local officials and city/state representatives were present at the Corvette Stamp Ceremony held in the Chevrolet Theater on August 22.

Postal Service representatives from across the state were also in attendance to unveil the Corvette Stamp, one of five issued in the new America on the Move – “Sporty Cars of the 50’s” collection set. Corvette Assembly Plant Manager, Wil Cooksey and NCM Executive Director, Wendell Strode were part of the morning’s festivities and shared their comments on the importance of Corvette to the community. “Our Corvette has a lot of horse-power under the hood,” Cooksey stated. “We represent Kentucky well!” This commemorative set of collector stamps is available through the postal service. “Commemorative stamp collections keep the US connected,” stated Ann Wright, USPS Kentucky District Manager. As part of the ceremony, a special cachet was created featuring the Corvette stamp and commemorative postmark. The Corvette Store has less than 100 of these commemorative cachet envelopes left. New on the Floor

A beautiful 1958 Panama Yellow Corvette Convertible owned by NCM Member John Rogerson has been placed on display in the Mobil Station exhibit area of the Museum.

This classic Corvette features a 245 HP engine with 4-speed transmission and was restored from the ground up in 1990. Other new exhibits to the Museum’s floor include a 1964 Red Coupe owned by NCM Member Gerald Avery. This classy Vette was placed in the Route 66 area and added flavor to this exhibit area includes a “drive-in theater” look and feel with clips from the Route 66 TV show being continually played. More exciting exhibit updates to come – stay tuned.
