Congratulations to Dean Halt of South Carolina drawn just moments ago as the winner of the 2007 Victory Red Corvette Coupe raffle!

Only 500 tickets were sold and Dean held the winning ticket number 0351!
We contacted Dean immediately following the drawing and his reaction was "Holy Cow - what a Christmas present."

He owned a Corvette in 1972 and has not had one since, but is excited to be a Corvette owner again. Thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle. Executive Director Celebrates 10th Anniversary

NCM Executive Director, Wendell Strode began at the Museum on December 20, 1996. He came at a time when the Museum was struggling in many ways.  Financially we were in default on our loan covenants and the banks could call our loans requiring payment in full at any time.

We struggled to pay all our bills, and attendance was dropping significantly.  Our membership had dropped to only 1632 members.  The banks temporarily agreed not to call our $11 million in loans on the condition that the board hire someone to manage the Museum that had a good business background.  A search committee took in applications from all over the country.  A strong candidate, whom the banks knew quite well, began to emerge. That strong candidate was Wendell Strode.  Wendell has led this Museum out of the trenches and into magnificent success.  We are now financially thriving thanks to Wendell’s leadership and the help of our members and supporters. We have reduced our debt by 75% and have over 27,000 members.  We have a staff of 75 people who truly follow his lead of “exceeding expectations”. Our Museum would not have survived without Wendell’s leadership. We hear him say on a regular basis that we are in the people business; the people serving people business; and our goal is to exceed the expectations of every person we interact with.  A leader leads and the team follows. Thank you Wendell for your dedication and leadership over the last 10 years, and we look forward to many more years to come.

Museum Family Loses Three Members over the Weekend

We are saddened to report that three Museum members passed way this last weekend.

The loss of Frank Genova, Valerie Hurlbutt, and Darrell Pape is one that has and will leave a mark on the Corvette community. Although from various parts of country, they have volunteered at the Museum for many years and have been avid supporters. Their enthusiasm for Corvette and their friendship will truly be remembered. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.

GM Sales Incentive Goal – We Are Almost There

We now have 91 confirmed purchases through the GM Sales Incentive Program and only have 9 left to reach our goal of 100!

Thank you to everyone who is helping to spread the word to club members and friends who own non-GM vehicles (1996 model year or newer) that are considering purchasing a new GM vehicle before December 31, 2006. This exciting challenge was made by an NCM member who retired from GM who will anonymously make a $25,000 donation to our Building Campaign if we reach our goal of 100 sales. We only have 10 days to reach our goal! Find out more about this exciting challenge here: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/donations/sales.shtml or by contacting Connie Russell at: connie@corvettemuseum.com
