Car and Driver Magazine’s Top 10 for 2007

Corvette was honored again in Car and Driver Magazine’s Top 10 for 2007 list! Every year the entire Car and Driver staff gather at a rural site about 30 miles west of their home office in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a week of evaluating all the new cars.

They judge the cars in three general areas: How well the car performs its intended functions, second is a preference for the more engaging cars in each category whether it is driving manners, a double-take-inducing look, or a powerful engine. Finally, they look for a good deal, so an inexpensive car that’s fast, fun, and practical will certainly rise to the top of their list. Three Weeks Left To Reach our Goal

We now have 73 confirmed purchases through the GM Sales Incentive Program and only have 27 left to reach our goal of 100!

Thank you to everyone who is helping to spread the word to club members and friends who own non-GM vehicles (1996 model year or newer) that are considering purchasing a new GM vehicle before December 31, 2006. Once we reach our goal of 100 sales, $25,000 will be donated to the NCM Building Campaign! We only have approximately three weeks to reach our goal! Find out more about this exciting challenge here: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/donations/sales.shtml or by contacting Connie Russell at: connie@corvettemuseum.com

Show Your Support by Reserving a Seat in Stone

Clubs and individuals have an opportunity to sponsor a monumental granite bench in the front entrance of the Museum along our brick Walk of Fame.

Each granite bench will feature customized artwork of the club or supporter and can be reserved either solely or with up to two partners per bench. A limited number of monumental granite benches are available and will be a lasting recognition of your support of the Museum. Club logos, car designs - your choice, so pick the artwork that best represents you and/or your club! 2007 Hall of Fame Inductees

Our 2007 Hall of Fame inductees were selected last week as part of our 4th quarter NCM Board of Directors meeting. Corvette Racer, Douglas Hooper; Corvette Technicality Specialist, Gordon Killebrew and Corvette Designer and Stylist, Carl Renner will be inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame as part of our
13th Anniversary Corvette Celebration over Labor Day weekend.

Inductees are selected based on nomination information and materials provided to us by our membership base. The Corvette Hall of Fame was created by the National Corvette Museum Board of Directors in 1998, with the purpose to confer the highest honor and recognition upon the most influential individuals in the history of the Corvette. The award recognizes those people who have made significant contributions to their respective fields, each having reached the highest level of accomplishment. Inductees must also possess the highest standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the Corvette and the National Corvette Museum. Our 2007 Corvette Hall of Fame inductees will be featured in our March/April issue of “ America’s Sports Car” magazine – so stay tuned.

Corvette’s Beretta, Gavin Among the Best in 2006

Corvette Racing's Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin again were the class of GT1 in the American Le Mans Series for 2006.

For the second straight year they teamed for the class driver’s title and have been nominated to the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association's annual All America team. The duo recorded four class wins in their Corvette C6.R including the first three rounds of the season - Sebring, Houston and Mid-Ohio. They added another win at Portland and closed out the year by finishing second at the Monterey Sports Car Championships to wrap up the championship. Beretta and Gavin also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans again with Jan Magnussen, the third consecutive year the trio stood on the top of the podium. Each year, two team members are elected in each of seven categories (unless there is a tie, in which case both tying drivers are elected). The driver who receives the most votes is awarded the Jerry Titus Memorial Trophy as AARWBA's Driver of the Year. This year's All America team will be announced at the organization's annual banquet on Jan. 13, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis.
