Building on the success of our first High Performance Driving School, we are thrilled to announce that our second school will be held on June 5-6 at Putnam Park Racetrack in Mount Meridian, Indiana, approximately 50 miles west of Indianapolis, Indiana! We are also very excited to welcome incoming Corvette Chief Engineer, Tom Wallace to the event! One lucky student just might have the Corvette Chief Engineer as their instructor. Longtime GM engineer and Corvette Hall of Fame Member, Gib Hufstader will be on-hand at the track and will be a featured guest speaker at the event banquet on Monday evening. We will have four run groups in addition to the instructor group. Two groups will be beginner/novice (Green & Yellow) with minimal to no experience, as well as an intermediate (Blue) group and an advanced (Red) group. Only 70 slots are available. The cost to participate is $395 for members and $445 for non-members and all participants will receive an event t-shirt and a seat at the banquet. Non-members will receive a one-year NCM individual membership with their event registration. Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23 and will be available at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/HPDE/agenda.shtml Z06 Corvette Receives Driver’s Choice Award from Motorweek At the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, the MotorWeek automotive TV series named the Corvette Z06 one of three in the Best Dream Machine category as part of its annual Drivers’ Choice Awards. A team of 15 judges, comprised of the writers, producers and MotorWeek crew, evaluated more than 150 cars and trucks, focusing on key features of superior performance, technology, practicality and dollar value. The vehicles selected for a 2006 Drivers’ Choice Award made it through a grueling gauntlet of road and track tests as well as a comprehensive comparison to competitors. This year’s event starts early with a high performance driving school at Nashville Super Speedway and keeps participants moving throughout the weekend with exciting activities such as road tours, drag racing, seminars, a drive-in movie night, a challenging golf classic, go-kart racing and more. Tickets on this raffle featuring a 2006 Silver Coupe are only $250 each and only 500 will be sold. PRS also displayed the Jeff Gordon guitar which was unveiled at SEMA last fall, painted with the “Heat Waves and Flames” Hot Hues race car design. The guitar, autographed by Jeff Gordon, Chip Foose and Carlos Santana will be auctioned in 2006 with the proceeds benefiting the Jeff Gordon Foundation. Many of the colors used on both the pace car and the custom guitar are currently used by PRS as part of their Hot Hues line of PRS CE Bolt-on guitars. PRS Guitars also announced they will continue their partnership with General Motors and Corvette Racing. As a sponsor of the factory Corvette Racing team, the PRS logo will continue to be displayed on the LeMans winning racecar during the season while the PRS Corvette Standard guitar continues production for a second year.
