Members of the Classic Glass Corvette Club of Marietta, Georgia surprised Sgt. First Class Adam Troxel upon his return from a tour of duty in Kuwait by doing a partial restoration of his 1980 Corvette. Troxel was amazed when he showed up to Day Chevrolet where a crowd of 150 people had gathered for the grand reveal of his car.
Troxel had asked his wife, Holly, to get the brakes done on the car while he was gone, but Holly took it a big step - or rather leap - further by approaching friend and club member Scott Oliver for help, and she had her husband's $6,000 re-enlistment bonus to put towards the project.
“We jumped on it,” club member Calvin Cruce said. “It was something we wanted to do. We just kind of picked the ball up and ran with it. It worked out just really wonderfully for us and for him. Through club members’ contacts, through the generosity of the Corvette community in general, we were able to do a mostly cosmetic restoration of the exterior and the interior.”
