NCM's Le Mans Z06 Brings In $210,000 for the Motorsports Park
The Motorsport Park project received a boost last Friday night after our 2011 Special Edition Le Mans Corvette Z06 went up for sale at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale.
Purchasing the Corvette for $210,000 was NASCAR’s Rick Hendrick, who is known for purchasing VIN 001 cars. Rick owns the very first Camaro, the first 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition (pending building) as well as the first Chevy Volt.

Museum Display Car Going Back to the Track
After being on display for the past few months, the LG Motorsports Riley-Corvette C6 will be leaving its spot in the Museum's Performance Area so that it may once again hit the asphalt to compete in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. German group Atlas eFX Team FS purchased Lou Gigliotti's car for the seven-round global sportscar championship, which begins at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.
The car represents the first time a team outside Pratt and Miller had built an ALMS Corvette, and finished in the top five a number of times in 2009. Read more about plans for the car at the Speed Network here. | |

This week's trivia question was: How much did our 2011 Z06 Le Mans Corvette go for at Barrett-Jackson Friday night and who bought it?
Congratulations to Steve Wesoloski of Rochester Hills, MI. He correctly identified Rick Hendrick as purchasing our car for $210,000! Steve scored a Corvette t-shirt and a Museum family pass.

Flint Brick from Original Home of the Corvette
The GM Assembly Plant where the 300 1953 Corvettes were made in Flint, Michigan was razed in 2003. Thanks to General Motors, the National Corvette Museum has obtained the bricks to use as a fundraiser for the museum. The bricks have been cleaned and the historic pieces of the 1953 Corvette's heritage are now available for enthusiasts to own.
