Historic Motorama II to Help Kick off GM’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

September 10-13, the NCM will host the Historic Motorama II featuring one Corvette from each model year, 1953-2008, on a three-day journey filled with activities from departure in Bowling Green, KY to arrival in Detroit, MI in time for the kick-off of GM’s 100th Anniversary festivities.

We are now accepting entries to be included in the selection to be a Motorama participant. Selection will take place on Thursday, May 1. If selected, the cost to participate is $500 per car (2 people per car) and includes 2 event shirts, a commemorative license plate, car flag and event brick with certificate of participation, along with meals and refreshments from various route sponsors. Participants are responsible for lodging and transportation costs. The selection is open to NCM members only – and any remaining slots will be opened to non-members after May 1. Entries must include name and address along with year, photo and info on the entry car – only original or close to stock entries please. The $500 participation fee will be due 7-days from the drawing date. Please email Adam Boca at: adam@corvettemuseum.com to be included in the selection process. We look forward to another opportunity to showcase Corvette’s 55 years of production and creation and to be a part of GM’s 100th Anniversary celebration!

The Corvette in a High-Mileage Future
By Peter Valdes-Dapena
CNNMoney.com staff writer
January 7 2008

Tadge Juechter, General Motors' chief engineer for the Chevrolet Corvette, wants to set one thing straight: the Corvette is here to stay. Last month, Chevy introduced the Corvette ZR1, an ultra-high-performance Corvette with an expected power output of 620 horsepower. Juechter made statements that he said were taken out of context in some media reports.

The news stories, he said, made it sound as if the Corvette itself might be forced to extinction by new fuel economy regulations. "It's my job to make sure that Corvettes do not go away," he told CNNMoney.com in an interview recently. New legislation requires a nationwide new car fuel economy average of 35 miles per gallon by 2010. That means the Corvette will have to change, Juechter said. It won't have to get 35 miles per gallon, of course, but it will have to do its part to raise the average. See the New ZR1 Corvette In Person!

The general public will have very few opportunities over the next few months to see the new and highly anticipated ZR1 Corvette. The Detroit Auto Show takes place next week, but the C5/C6 Bash may be your best chance! The Bash event is known for special unveilings and displays and this year’s event is guaranteed to be one that participants won’t forget!

You'll want to join us for "walk-around" and introduction of the new ZR1 with GM engineers. You'll be able to take photos and see this ultimate performance vehicle up close! Approximately 250 people have already pre-registered for the C5/C6 Bash event April 24-26. In addition to special activities like the limited showing displays, the Bash offers road tour excursions and activities exclusive to Kentucky. Slots for many of the event activities are filling fast, so mark your spot by registering online at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/c5_bash/info.shtml

Museum Deliveries, Xperiences and Buyers Tours Update

The delivery team is hard at work scheduling Museum deliveries, NCM Xperiences and Corvette Buyers Tours that give us a chance to meet so many new and current Corvette Owners.

There are 15 Buyers Tours being tracked at this time and we are currently scheduling 2 to 3 each day. The Buyers Tour offers new Corvette owners a chance to schedule a time to see their new Corvette being assembled on the line at various stages – pending any line or scheduling issues. There are currently 19 Museum Deliveries scheduled over the next few weeks. These folks have purchased new Corvettes and have chosen the R8C option to take delivery at the Museum. A VIP tour of the Museum and Plant, hands-on introduction, individual membership to the Museum, decal and more are part of the program benefits. Another program available created just for current Corvette owners is the NCM Xperience. These participants can schedule a time to bring their Corvette to the Museum and enjoy a special day that includes an exterior cleaning of their Corvette after which it is displayed on the floor of the Museum delivery area. This program also includes a VIP plant tour and Museum tour, a one-year individual membership to the Museum, commemorative plaque, silver decal recognizing participation in the program, and an individual photograph in front of the Museum - weather permitting. All of these programs are a great experience and bring hundreds of enthusiasts to the Museum each year. Find out more about any of these three programs exclusive to the National Corvette Museum by visiting our website at: www.corvettemuseum.com

Be sure and read the THIRD ARTICLE ABOVE!!!

Tadge Juechter says the Corvette is here to stay!  He says the mileage will have to go up or (Corvette will have to do it's share) but it won't have to get 35mpg.

He is trying to put the rumors to rest.  It is from an article on CNN-Money.
