It's Our Birthday - Come Celebrate!
 Annually marking the opening of the National Corvette Museum, the Labor Day Anniversary Celebration falls on September 1-3 in 2011 and continues to be a popular member-focused event which unites friends, family and enthusiasts for a look back on the Museum’s history and forward to the future!
Those registered can enjoy 3 days of displays in the newly enlarged Museum including a 100 Years of Chevrolet exhibit, interesting and unique road tours, special video presentations, raffles, the annual open Membership meeting and more! The event will also include the Lifetime/VIP dinner, 10/15/20-year member recognition, Ambassador Breakfast, and the “Corvette Hall of Fame” Induction Ceremony and banquet where we will induct Ron Fellows, Clare MacKichan and Ray Quinlan. For 2011 the Hall of Fame dinner will be on Thursday evening and the Lifetime/VIP Reception will be on Friday evening. On Saturday night we’ll turn on the “divariable veeble fister and let the time slide roll” us into the Saturday Night Sock Hop for an evening of fun.

Join a Police-Escorted Journey
 How would you like to be trailing a state trooper instead of seeing one in your rearview?
This tour is a joint fundraiser for the National Corvette Museum and Trooper Island, the camp supported by the Kentucky State Police. Tour dates are October 11-14, and the trip is filling fast!
Along the route of the 4-day excursion, participants will visit a number of Kentucky’s famous bourbon distilleries, Frankfort, the capitol of Kentucky and the site of several historical buildings including the Governors’ mansion and the KSP museum, plus two days in the Lexington area, the center of the State’s horseracing industry.
This very special event is limited to 30 cars and the tour fee is $650 for the driver and $350 for their guest. The Museum in Motion tours are very popular and with limited space it’s important to sign up promptly while there is still space. Register online here. |
 One of the largest and most fun-filled Corvette events in the world, the annual Corvettes at Carlisle event features more than 5,000 Corvettes representing all generations of America’s classic sports car. Corvette enthusiasm is contagious with participation in autocross, dyno testing, burnouts, and the parade through historic downtown Carlisle. In addition to the Corvette giveaway, the excitement continues with an incredible shopping experience, including a huge swap meet with a wide variety of vendors, an all-Corvette car corral, Manufacturers Midway and Installation Alley.

Behind the Scenes of NASCAR
 August 17-18 is the Hendrick Motorsports trip. Kentucky a Top Tax-Friendly State for Retirees
A report by Kiplinger.com has named the top 5 tax-friendly states for retirees, with Kentucky being #4. The article lists our state income tax at 2-6%, and sales tax is 6%. The article also cites that Kentucky exempts Social Security benefits from state income taxes, and allows residents to exclude up to $41,110 per person in retirement income from a wide variety of sources, including public and private pensions and annuities. Homeowners 65 and older also qualify for a homestead provision that exempts part of the value of their property from state taxes and while we have an inheritance tax, immediate family members are exempt.
