Corvette Forum Cruise-In and American Warrior Recognition Event

Corvette Forum is just two weeks away, and this year's event offers a new activity - a one-day American Warrior Recognition. Thursday, May 26, participants signing up for the AWR will caravan or meet-up at Fort Knox or Fort Campbell, pick up a Wounded Warrior and transport them back to the NCM for a day of tours of the Museum and BG Assembly Plant. A luncheon is also included in the activities.

The Corvette Forum event continues through Saturday and includes a People's Choice Car Show, seminars, poker run, road tours, Gordon Killebrew's school, golf cart autocross, live auction and banquet.

On site registration will be available, and if you've not signed up to transport a warrior but would like to, please contact the events department at 270-467-8804. Log on to our website for the complete agenda.

Mississippi / Corvette License Plates Benefit NCM

Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc. has sponsored a law authorizing a specialty car tag to support the
National Corvette Museum and celebrate the Corvette. Mississippi residents can purchase a tag for $31.00 and $24 of that goes to the NCM with the remaining $7.00 going to various MS government agencies.

If you would like to reserve a tag, please send an application (available by calling Connie at
800-538-3883 x115) and a check for $31.00 made payable to Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc. to:
Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc.
P.O. Box 2703
Jackson, MS 39207

The tags are available for any automobile, not just Corvettes. When 300 tags have been sold, Mississippi Corvette Club, Inc. will submit your application and $31.00 to the Mississippi Department of Revenue, which will print the tags. You will then be notified when you can pick up your tag at your county tax collector’s office. No tags will be printed until a total of 300 tags have been sold. The tags will probably not be printed until January, 2012. Your $31.00 will be fully refunded in the unlikely event that at least 300 tags are not sold. You can follow the progress of the tag sales on the Club website.
When you renew your tag each year, you will be charged $31.00 in addition to the cost of a regular tag by your county tax collector.

TUESDAY NITE TRIVIA

This week's trivia question was: A celebrity pastry chef's Corvette was stolen. Name his show, the network it airs on, his business's name and the city it is based out of.

Congratulations to Tammy Kaehler! She correctly identifed Duff Goldman of the show Ace of Cakes which airs on Food Network. Duff owns Charm City Cakes out of Baltimore. Tammy scored a windbreaker and free passes to the Museum!

By the way - if you help Duff find his missing Corvette you'll earn free birthday cakes for the rest of your life!

You, too, can play Tuesday Nite Trivia by becoming a 'Fan' of NCM on Facebook!

NASCAR'S RICK HENDRICK BUILDS OWN CORVETTE ENGINE

NASCAR team owner and Chevy dealer Rick Hendrick spent today at Wixom’s Performance Build Center to take part in the Corvette Engine Build program. Hendrick built his own 505 horsepower LS7 V8 which will go into his Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition.

The Corvette Engine Build Experience allows the buyer of a Corvette Z06 and ZR1 to assemble the very engine that will go into the Corvette they are purchasing. Described as the Ultimate Corvette Fantasy Camp, participants work under the watchful guidance of one of the PBC’s master engine builders. The engine is then shipped to Bowling Green where it's mated with the customer's car.
Hendrick is the 13th person to build his own engine at Wixom’s Performance Build Center.

“As a Chevy enthusiast and lifelong gearhead, having the chance to experience GM’s hand-build engine assembly is a real privilege,” said Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “I want to thank everyone at the Performance Build Center for this opportunity. It’s incredible to spend time with the people here and see first-hand these processes that produce some of the best engines in the world.”

Cost of the Engine Build Experience is a $5,800 option and the participant gets their name on the small plaque that adorns every LS7 and LS9 engine that identifies the builder. All the engines built are covered by Chevrolet’s 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
