Fast Fall Fun at Autobahn
Monday, October 3 NCM and Hooked On Driving will take to the track at Autobahn Country Club to host a special High Performance Driving School. The full course is 3.1 miles with 21 corners and is located in Joliet, IL, just outside of Chicago. While the school includes mandatory classroom instruction, there's also plenty of run time! Spectators are welcome, and spectator rides with instructors will be available.
The registration fee of $295 includes coaching, classroom briefings, lunch and nearly two full hours on-track. Rental helmets are available from the track if you don't have one of your own. This event benefits the National Corvette Museum, but all marques are welcome.

Every Day is Veteran's Day at NCM
Today a charter bus brought a number of residents from the Tennessee State Veterans Home to the NCM. Seeing all of the Corvettes and cars in our “100 Years of Chevrolet” exhibit inspired many smiles from these soldiers. “I remember riding in one just like that,” a veteran said with a big grin as he pointed at a black C3. “Those were good times.”
Brittany Johnson, one of the caregivers, pushed the passenger in his wheelchair slowly enough to allow him as much time as possible with each of the cars on display. “We go out on short trips to restaurants and parks every week.” She said. “Every month though, we plan one or two big trips to places like Graceland and the Aquarium. This month’s big trip was to the National Corvette Museum. They got really excited about coming here.”
After a trip to the café for lunch, the staff came out and gave them all a hand for their service, making them all feel welcome at the home of America’s sports car. |
Two Additional Caravan Captains Announced
I am most gratified to announce the next two caravan captains for 2014. Ron Tremblay and Sue Woodland have agreed to provide the leadership for the second caravan from our northern neighbors in Canada. Ron and Sue reside in Newmarket, Ontario, and are members of the Corvettes of Durham Corvette Club. We expect a large contingent of our friends and fellow Corvette enthusiasts from up North to participate in the 2014 caravan due to the efforts of captains like Ron and Sue, and Graham Borley in Alberta.
It is also great to announce that once again Ivan Schrodt has taken on the task of leading the Wisconsin caravan to Bowling Green. Ivan is a resident of Sherwood, WI and was captain of the 2009 caravan from the Badger State. With his experience and dedication to the NCM, we can only expect that the next caravan will be even more exciting. Thanks to these fine members for helping to make the 20th Anniversary Celebration one of the biggest and most exhilarating yet.
