Heartbeat in the Heartland Tour Moves On

The Heartbeat in the Heartland tour is continuing to make its way through parts of Texas and our tour team is working hard to introduce the Museum and its mission to this part of the country.

On Monday, the tour made a visit to Dyess Air Force Base with pictures taken of the Corvettes parked under the wing of a B1. The stopover was followed by a gathering at Lawrence Hall Chevrolet in Abilene TX, were they hosted a show-n-shine and had the safety car and C5R on display inside the showroom. There have been over 20 individuals sign up as new members and several donations have been made to the building campaign as part of the tour’s stopovers. Yesterday, the tour headed to San Angelo , Texas for a stop at the Goodyear Proving Ground for parade laps and some rides around their test track. The NCM was presented with a proclamation from the San Angelo Mayor making the day officially “NCM Day”. The tour team will settle in at All American Chevrolet in Midland, Texas today and then they are off to Floydada, Texas for a show stop at Oden Chevrolet on Saturday. More updates on the Heartbeat in the Heartland Tour will be coming your way. View the travel schedule of the tour team by clicking here: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/heartbeat/

New Z06 Makes the Lists

Forbes.com has issued it fall “new car” forecast and the new Z06’s 505 horsepower and top speed of 198 miles an hour helped propel the new model onto their list.

Popular Mechanics recently announced the winners of their 2006 Automotive Excellence Awards and the Corvette Z06 was recognized in the “Performance” category. The winners were chosen by the magazine’s team of automotive editors. “Our automotive team has picked the crème de la crème of the auto industry’s crop of new vehicles,” said James Meigs, editor-in-chief of Popular Mechanics. “We’re truly passionate about all new vehicles but these rise above their competitors.” The awards recognize exceptional 2006 model year vehicles in eight specific categories: functionality, design, safety, luxury, performance, energy efficiency, off-road capability and driving fun.
