Fundraising and securing sponsors is still our main focus and priority.  These programs include: buy an acre, corporate sponsors and any general donation.  If you have leads or contacts for interested parties, please forward them to Wendell at strode@corvettemuseum.org

We have finalized the purchase and have paid for 184 acres at a cost of $3 million.  We also have an option to purchase the adjoining 221 acres.  This option will expire in seven years.

We recently signed a contract with DDS Engineering, a local civil engineering firm to finalize the topography maps needed by the design firm that will be selected.

On August 15th and 16th, our Motorsports Park Committee interviewed prospective candidates to be the official track and Motorsports Park designer.  We anticipate that being finalized within 2 to 3 weeks.  We will contract with firm/person selected to move that process along.  Our goal is to have the master plan and phase I design completed and approved by the MSP committee by January 2013.

We will then work with the designer and our civil engineer firm to prepare and finalize the bid documents that we will need to solicit bids.  We want to have the documents ready to mail to prospective bidders by March 2013……..however, we do not plan to solicit bids until we have secured more funds from donations and sponsorships.

Wendell’s main focus over the next several months will be in fundraising and soliciting sponsorships.  He welcomes any help you can provide with this.  He is available to go visit prospects, to speak at club meetings or to meet with any company or business on being a sponsor.  Again, please provide us with any leads or suggestions you have for fundraising for the Motorsports Park.

Our Motorsports Park Committee is meeting on a monthly or on call basis if needed sooner.
