This is the largest auction of classic cars in the world I believe. January 25-30 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bring a very good line of credit and lots of dough. Here's where you can get a list of the hundreds of cars offered:

I can't imagine seeing that many cars auctioned off at one time.
Take a look at #993 on page 14. 1958 Corvette with the first retractable hardtop. One of one.
It was featured recently in one of the Vette mags I get. Don't recall which one right now.
How much money will exchange hands at that place?

Vette(s): 69 T-top blue w/bright blue interior-427/390 hp,4 spd,power steering, power brakes, power windows and air conditioning
They call the car "Scotty" and it's been appraised at $750,000. I got to see it at Pro Team Corvette in Napoleon Ohio two years ago. Fantastic car, will be selling for no reserve we'll have to see what it sells for. On a side note, if Pro team is anywhere in your area, it's worth the drive. Talk about kid in a candy/vette store
75 to 100 vetts on display! Mostly C1 to C3's, you don't know where to start looking.

The auction results have been published, and they are here if anyone is keeping score:

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
In case anyone was watching "Merlin" that souped up, 1200 hp '74 Vette with the dual superchargers was auctioned off this weekend for around $60,000.00. They were commenting on the fact that he claims to have around a quarter of a million wrapped up in it, but that for most builders/restorers it's not the money you'll get back out of it but the enjoyment you get once you're finished.
I was watching some of that auction on the speed channel (just go satilite) and man what I thing to watch, scotty sold for 5 or 6 hundred G's and then there was a pair of vette a 53 and a 03 that were twins white with red interior (o3 was the only one with that color combo) and then they had as close to the same vin nuimbers and they the same owner had both if I got the story right they sold for 250 G's i think. The record sell was a one of a kind 1954 oldsmoble f88 concept car (harley and mitchell's olds to compete with corvette) gold in color awesome looking ride sold for a cool 3 million to a muesum in colorado.

Actually, Scotty only fetched $315,000, which is WAY below the appraised value of $750,000. The twin '53/'03 white with red Vettes with matching serial numbers went for $550,000. All of the results are posted at http://www.barrett-jackson.com/
