This is a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder SE V6.

Photo is taken from underside front of the engine compartment. The white thing to the right is the oil filter. I'd like to know what the thing is in the middle of the photo that has two pipes coming out of the left side, with rubber hoses attached to it. It's hard to tell from this photo, but it seems to be leaking something. Is it the fuel pump?
Thanks!

It is an oil cooler/warmer. Should have coolant running in the rubber hoses, and engine oil will circulate thru the pancake on the inside. Gets engine oil up to operating temp much quicker in cold climates.

Thanks, Joel. I was under there changing the oil this weekend. There's a few things that look leaky. It's got 90k on it, and is 10 years old, so I guess it would, huh?

Well...it's not really the age...it's the "Nissan" part of it that makes it leak.....

Is it leaking coolant, or engine oil? If coolant, either the hose(s) is leaking, or the warmer is cracked/corroded. If engine oil, it might just need a couple of new o-ring seals.

Is this an automatic trans? If so, be HAPPY it is the V6 engine, and not the V8(or an '05-up year model). MAJOR problems with the radiators on those, and the failure allows coolant to leak into the trans...where the trans COMPUTER is. You prolly know that electronics and water are not good bedfellows. Once the trans has coolant/water in it, it's lights out for the TCM(trans control module)...and the rest of the trans as well.

Nissan has been having to warranty those things for YEARS ....seems to me they would rather solve the problem to begin with, but so far, they haven't addressed the issue with the radiators....
