Any details on activities going on Dave? I will be in Erie Pa that weekend and could most likely make some day trips to join in on some of the activities as it's only an hour drive from Erie to Buffalo. Should be more interest as date gets closer I hope Exclamation

If not everyone has a passport, I say scrap that idea.

A lot of the "water activity" stuff is shut down or shutting down by that time of the year. To cold.

We can do a cruise to see the Falls, Old Fort Niagara and stuff like that. I'm trying to get a lot of drive and view the area time since we all like to drive our vettes.

I'm going to arrange going to the Pierce Arrow museum. They did a ton of work on the place. Great local automobile history there.

All I can manage is a day trip on sat. minus the Vette. If a cruise is planned for that day I'll have to beg off or be a co-pilot.

Bump.

Any other takers out there?

Buffalo isn't a complete s**thole like it used to be. Our waterfront actually shocked me when I went down there this summer for the first time in ages. Nice Naval Park, Canalside, Lighthouse.

Mike & Terry,
That's fantastic. Bring some other of your MI friends and those folks from IN.
This may be a small turnout, but it will still be a blast.

Just roll in Thursday evening if you'd like. Nothing planned for Thursday except for meet and greet/dinner in the evening. I will meet everyone there around 5 ish.

The hotel has a shuttle to take us from the hotel to their restaurant "Salvatore's." So if you want to have a few drinks you don't have to worry about driving back to the hotel. I figure we'd have a nice relaxing evening since most of y'all are driving a distance to get here.

******UPDATE******

Who else is coming or thinking of coming?

So far since the group is so small it is hard to get group rates and reservations.

I know time is ticking quickly and I'm scurrying to get an itinerary in place in the next week.

****I will tighten up times when the events will take place. I also may have to flip flop Friday and Saturdays events. I'm awaiting return calls.****

Thurs: Oct 4th
Arrive and check in at Salvatores.
          5 pm: Meet and Greet
          6 pm: Dinner @ Brennan's Bowery Bar.

Friday: Oct 5th
8 am: Breakfast at hotel (Recommended we do a light breakfast)
8:45 am: Depart for East Aurora
9:30 am: Arrive in East Aurora
11:00 am: Lunch in East Aurora.

There are many places to eat there, we will point out all the places and you are free to roam around and chose on your own. Or you can join us at the Elm St. Bakery.  We have to stop at Vidler's 5 & 10. People from all over come to check this place out.

12:30 pm Depart for the Fall foliage train ride with the Arcade & Attica Railroad. (2 Hours long.)  $13 per person.
The engine may be one of their vintage WWII Diesel engines or a 1920 ALCO Steam engine.
The coaches are circa 1920. Relax and enjoy the ride.

4 pm: After the train ride ends we'll head back to hotel to freshen up.
5:30 pm: Depart Hotel for Elma
6 pm Dinner at "The Elma Town Grill"

Sat:   Oct 6th
         7 am: Breakfast at Hotel
8:30 am Depart hotel for Niagara Falls
         9:30-11:30 walk around the Falls
11:30 Depart Niagara Falls for Lockport Locks.
12:30 Arrive at the Lockport Locks/Erie Canal Boat Tour. (2 Hours long.)  $13 per person
3:00 pm depart Lockport Locks for Lewiston. Nice scenic ride along Lake Ontario
Dinner in Lewiston. We'll wing it. Location dependent on weather.

Sun: Oct 7th
        7am Breakfast at Hotel
Depending on when people will be leaving we could take a nice scenic ride through the southern tier to look at
the fall foliage and hit a diner for a fast lunch.
Or we could take a ride down to the Buffalo Naval Park to check out our waterfront and the Navy Ships and
submarines. It's really nice down there now.

Keep in mind Monday is Columbus Day for ya'll that have that day off if you want to stay for part of Sunday.

Thanks,
Sarge

Or we could take a ride down to the Buffalo Naval Park to check out our waterfront and the Navy Ships and
submarines. It's really nice down there now.

Keep in mind Monday is Columbus Day for ya'll that have that day off if you want to stay for part of Sunday.

Thanks,
Sarge

Ok, here are my plans. I will be in Erie with my wife for her Postal union seminar.
This will be without my Vette.
Both my wife and I will drive up (about an hour drive) to attend Thurs. night dinner.
Return to Erie after dinner.
Fri. will drive back up to Buffalo myself and attend all Fri. activities then return to Erie.
Sat. will drive back to Buffalo myself and attend all Sat. activities and return to Erie.
Sun. will leave from Erie to return home.
As stated in a previous post I will be riding shotgun with Dave for the cruising. (if he don't lock me out)....LOL

Dan, Sounds like your going to be putting some miles on under your belt.

Awesome!!! I appreciate your effort in attending.
It makes me feel better and less discouraged due to the low turn out count so far.

For everyone coming:

As a matter of fact due to your reminder about Monday being holiday we will most likely hook up with what's left of the gang on Sunday and tag along with you on the site seeing, especially if you head south in the direction we need to go Smile

Don't worry Dan.  You have first dibs.

Dorothy might bring our grand duaghter to ride the train.
Vidler's is my grand daughter's favorite store. But she won't be with us for the whole weekend. I think Dorothy will pick and choose the parts that she will attend and enjoy.
Time will tell as we approach Oct. 4th.

Ok I need a head count for the Arcade Attica train ride and the Lockport Locks boat ride.

I have "x" amount of seats reserved and need a head count so I can let them know so I'm not eating the price of the tickets.

Thanks Sarge

Also something to keep in mind.

If you are having a minor mechanical issue, I have access to the shop, lift and my tools. My friend that owns the shop offered it to us if needed. I've been moonlighting there for 12 years now.

Bring some warm clothes and good footwear. There is some rain in the forecast unfortunately. It will be cool and maybe damp.

Any questions my number is 716.983.4243
If I don't pick up right away, don't hang up leave a message please. Thanks!

I called Salvatore's tonight and there was only 1 room booked out of 15 I had reserved.

The hotel released all the rooms a few days ago because nobody else book a room all this time and now none are available for this weekend.

So it looks like Terry and Mike are the only ones there. We'll see you there. My # is listed in a earlier post. Call me when you get in.

I am staying at my daughter's in Orchard Park.
BTW, I may or may not have the Vette. Found a tranny leak last night so I dropped it off at the garage this AM. Hopefully it is just a loose screw and I will be able to get it back this PM.
Wish I lived closer to your guy with the lift.Unhappy
Either way, I will be there for dinner tonight and all the activities this weekend.Smile
Dorothy will join us for lunch and dinner tomorrow and the boat ride on Saturday.
She won't be able to make the train ride.
And my daughter and grand kids won't be coming on the boat ride.Unhappy
See you all tonight.Beer

Good to hear Mike. Looking forward to seeing you and Terry.

I should be at the hotel around 5:30 PM, depending on traffic.

My leak turned out to be a seal where the speedo enters the tranny. Angry
I can take care of that later.

Just wanted to say thanks to the folks that showed up. I enjoyed seeing you guys. I hope you guys had a good time.

Not a big crowd, but that made it easier to do and see a couple extra things. Tom and Ann (friends of mine) lead the group in a nice scenic ride up to Olcott and along Lake Ontario.  The boat ride through the Erie Canal locks 34 & 35 was very cool. Good thing we didn't do the jet boat stuff. That would have been cold and miserable. The fall foliage train ride was good too. I'm sure we all could have done without the "mini family reunion/daycare" on our rail car. That family was totally oblivious to the train ride. Disapprove

Dave, Michele and I went down to the Erie Basin Marina and the Naval Park then Pierce Arrow Museum today. Unexpectedly they happened to be open. Smile
Then we drove around some of the streets in downtown Buffalo passing the First Niagara arena "Home of the Sabres", Coke-Cola Field "Home of the Bison's" and finished off the afternoon at the Pearl Street Brewery.

A BIG thank you to Darryl for putting together a great weekend.
Thanks to Tom for leading us on great routes on Friday and Saturday. You set a good pace.
I have lived in the area all my life and I saw things and did things for the first time.
Great food, great tours, OK weather (it could have been worse), great time with great friends.
Mike and Terry came the fartherest, but Dan gets the award for most miles.
Pictures to follow.
