What an awesome day yesterday. Dusted off the little fiberglass toy, picked up Karen for lunch. After dropping her back off at cubicalville, where she bemoan the fact that I was enjoying MY vette, I went to the big fiberglass toy for an afternoon of oil pressure troubleshooting (brand new engine) and rewiring of navigation lights.
Karen arranged a happy hour meeting at the Ringside (Great idea for future planning BTW). From the big fiberglass toy, it would take about 1/3 of a cigar. Oh well, I'll save the rest for later. Driving along Marine Drive was awesome with almost no traffic - I might actually make it by the time I said. Wait, that's kind of odd on a day like this. Sure enough, after passing three Port of Portland cops (none of whom signaled that I should turn around) it was blocked off before 122nd. I would have to go back to 33rd and deal with "regular people's traffic."
Those that know me, know I'm not a very patient driver. This would have driven me batty on any other day. Karen and the in-laws were taking bets on how p***ed off I'd be by the time I got there.
75ish, just a light breeze when stopped in traffic. The "idiot factor" was rather low and people were being civil. Hell, even the C6 guys were waving back.
I pulled into the lot just as my fingers were starting to get hot. Put the stubby in the ashtray to burn itself out, shut-off the engine, locked up, and went inside for happy hour.
Got the standard, "It's about GD time you got here," and, "Where the he!! have you been?" I could only grin as I reached for the drink menu.
"Hey, is my face red?"
