This is a sticky situation. We want to see you so I hope you'll come!  Can't Pam come on her own?  Or is there potential for "a scene" if the two meet?   Unfortunately, friends get divided up in a divorce, too.  It's just the way it is! 

Hay Folks, It doesn't look like Kathy and I will be making this one. My Sister-in-Law is having a surprize birthday (50) party for my Brother-in-Law Saturday evening. If we don't show up for this party we might hear about it all year. Yous Guys Have Fun!
