This came to me by email and I you folks may enjoy watching if you havent seen it before.  Im including the text from the email for some background information.

What a way to see Paris!

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground. If you haven't seen this before it is a classic, if you have seen it I apologize, but it's still a classic. Turn on your sound and enjoy.

Chip..........WOW......it reminds me of a few times in my earlier years, when I did some off the wall stunts. One was to drive on a new section of an interstate going in the wrong direction. The road wasn't opened or completed. I took my 427 Corvette pulling gears travelling to over 100 when in 4th gear...when my girlfriend starts screaming. The bridge wasn't built yet that I was heading for. I downshifted into third, second then first...locked on my brakes...prayed that I wouldn't blow the engine with the over revs..........and managed to stop a few feet from the barrels before the complete road drop off. I did a lot of stupid tricks. corvette440hp2011-05-29 08:09:36

On another encounter, I changed out my Holley to an 850CFM on a built up 327 Corvette coupe. I modified the secondary linkage to manually bring in the back two barrels. Somehow it locked up the accelerator as I was on a two lane highway  that wound all around a canal. I was traveling at over 100...when my frind told me to back off. What he didn't know was I had my foot off the gas. I panicked and pushed down the clutch...to watch my RPMS go nuts.....then I tried the brakes...finially I got smart and tuned off the ignition key........I was totally insane..

On another occasion a friend wanted to know what my top speed was. We had been at a National Guard drill at night. It was about 3:30 in the morning. I had my 427 Vette on a concrete 4 lane highway. I was going down the middle of the road to give me  equal room on each side. We were watching the speedometer as it read 153...when he started yelling. Up ahead was an area that work was being done. They placed a thick steel plate over it. I told my freind to lean over toward the floor......I figured to roll the car. I knew that you couldn't hit that plate at that speed. Well I hit the plate and everything broke loose. The car was pulling to the right as hard as it could. I tried keeping it strait. What happened was the upper control arm broke loose, which flipped the passanger tire inward. The tire now was rubbing against the frame. It takes a lot of raod at that speed to come to a stop. The tire from rubbing blew thru the sidewall. I managed to not kill anyone...including myself.........by the way I never got any tickets for these stunts.

I actually can tell you more horror stories.........I'm no where as crazy anymore as I used to be...I'm just lucky that I made it past a lot of stupidity. Oh and I really did get a lot of tickets for other  driving feats........

Wow Larry good stories. Similar to some of the stupidity in the film. I enjoyed watchin it. I have never owned cars that could really do serious speed. So most of my stupidity has been elsewhere, Off the road.

Wow Larry, that sure brings back memories. My buddies were constantly pulling stunts like that and I'd much rather hear the stories than be there, seriously, I scare easy, something about dying or doing major hospital time  Pinch Disapprove I dunno.

I another time used to drive home from a drive-in restaurant as fast as I could. This was at 3AM. Every car behind me I considered to be "the Badge". I was wailing around every corning seeing lights behind me (head lights). As I headed down a one mile stretch and was getting ready to turn into me side street.........I saw the bubble gum lights flashing. I decided to wait for the officer to cite me there instead of making a commotion at my parents' house. I sat in the car and waited for him. I was out of the car when he arrived. He told me to get in his back seat. I pleaded with him to let me even push my car home by hand. He said, "Lock it or don't." I didn't want it left on the roadway, but locked it. He asked if I knew where we were headed.........I said to jail....he just laughed. He wanted to know where another police car was, that was to get me first......I told him how would I know.........maybe eating donuts.......I don't have a police radio.......I guess that wasn't a wise answer.......just wiseguy! As we headed towards jail he asked if I had a good job to cover the big fine etc. I mentioned where I worked etc. It turned out he used to work in the same department. We talked a bit more.........now he's going back to my car. He gave me a ticket because he radioed thru another police dept. He said he was going over 100mph but couldn't even get near me. So on the ticket he only wrote speed but unable to get a read-out. Nothing about going over 100mph. It was an minor ticket.   corvette440hp2009-05-11 12:14:36
