"Drive it like you stole it"
Another time my brother cuts school to play war with a friend. They go to a farmers area. My brother had a JC Higgins rifle. George and my brother Tom take shots at each other.......my brother loses........takes a bullit in the left chest area....near the armpit. They throw down their rifles and hitch-hike to the hospital. His wound was in the nerve center, that controls the left hand movements. They had to leave the bullit in due to worry about more damage if removed. He had to get all kinds of shock treatments to gain control again. He had a mark there which kind of looked like a belly button. This gets better.......I'll tell you more tomorrow....

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH ! HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL.

"Drive it like you stole it"
Will, that I know can be EXTREMELY painful. Thanks for sharing that. You just reminded me of when I was helping my father-in-law put a roof on his garage on Thanksgiving many years ago. The ladder that I was on collapsed. I fell on my side that had a roll of duct tape in the pocket. I jumped around gasping for breath. The pain was actually worse than when I got blown up and burned. I had to sleep on my back on the sofa for months. My wife had to pull my straight forward to help me up and had to assist my get dressed for work. One of the hardest things was to back up my truck…it’s hard to turn your neck and head. I found out that the only thing that doesn’t hurt is to fart. I would carry my toolbox with my arm straight down at my side. I would bend down at the knees to put it down. I never missed a day at work. In March (4 months later) I was beginning to mend. I opened the door to the roof at one of our local TV stations. I took a couple of steps on the ice (you guessed it) fell on the broken rib side. My wife (Nina) said that if I didn’t get checked out after work, she would drag me by the hair to the hospital. I actually didn’t know the extent of my injuries and was even thinking that I had a punctured lung. So off I went to be checked out. At emergency they asked when and what happened. They asked if I missed any work. They were actually amused with me trying not to laugh out loud. They perform all the tests. Next thing I know they want to give me pain killers. So I ask “do I have broken ribs or what?” It turns out I had three in the front and one in the back. They weren’t amused with me anymore…they were very serious. I think the ribs hurt worse than when my nose was broken at the bridge and my eye was gouged. In 1979 I was in an electrical explosion and in the burn unit……..no working for 9 months…….Jobst garment for two years………but that was maybe less hurting than the ribs. I had a LOT OF FUN in my work. Someday I give you more gory details. ALL THIS DONE AND SAID, Jimmy (Ace) has been through a whole bunch worse stuff than I have. Jimmy is my HERO…………..
