That really sucks Todd but I think your going to have to spend your efforts on getting the stain out.  It's amazing how many car club people can be asses.  I'm not putting down clubs but I even had a Corvette Club member tell me "It's only a car DUDE"  I told him "then yours must not be a CORVETTE"  I would try ebo's link until the stain is removed or atleast lessened.

Next show we will have to take turns watching our cars.  I did notice that one of us was with the vehicles at all times.

Try the "Magic Eraser".  I used that to remove ink from my leather couches after my 3 year old did their art there.  Just keep scrubbing. 71Shark2008-07-09 11:38:21

Tim, I knew there had to be some artistic little ones out there putting their signature on leather.
Hopefully it will work out or fade, if not just going to have to keep someones butt in that seat 24/7 to cover that stain.Wink

My 2 cents
A) Infringing into or onto another persons property is Trespassing. In essence your vehicle was trespassed the minute someone touched your car. You do not have to babysit your car. This is the same as if someone put something in an open house window

B) I severly doubt someone was "just being a nice guy and handed out fliers for the club". I'll bet this was a "sanctioned action". If so the club is liable for the actions of their agent

C) We all get "stuff" dropped on our seats at shows. I hate it but it happens.

D) Depending on the state (Im not a lawyer BUT I am a claims specialist and we are a biggie in the vintage car world ) Being your vehicle was trespassed you may have a case. It depends upon if your state has an "intent" liabilty.   In example, you just paved your side walk. Your neighbor just accidently put a heel mark in.  This is no-intent. SOme states make you pay for no intent.  If Johnnie next door puts his name in the mix, this is intent.  It really depends upon A) Where you live, B) Cost of repair.

Me, If I could fix it, so be it...  If I couldn't, small claims court. Let the judge decide ESPECIALLY if the car club guy was a jerk.

Gee, I guess I better do some tests on the paper that the C3VR fliers are printed on. Even though I only place them on other folks windshields I would hate for them to leave a mark. Especially since I am doing this for free to promote the registry. I would hate to be sued.......

Just do Black and White Larry, but I'd still soak one and ring it out to see if you get any Black out of it.

Kevin (kebo) does make some good points.  I'd check into that Todd if you can't clean the leather.

I'm using the bosses kinda purple looking fliers.... but jest to be on the safe side I think I might print off some white ones for those that I can't personally hand out to the owner.

Just to be clear I would be every bit as upset as Todd is but without talking to the person who handed the fliers out I don't think blame can be placed on any one in particular. This is being said without knowing several of the other factors that have been mentioned throughout this post.

Bottom line is that I hope Todd is able to get it cleaned. I hope that if not he is able to have it repaired to his satisfaction. And I know this post has taught me a few things to consider that I had not before and am glad he took the time to vent!

Update- I have removed 90% of the stain using a variety of products, most effective was rubbing alcohol, I removed until the leather dye started to come off with the stain. Most people looking at it won't notice. unfortunately I will always see it. Thanks to everyone for their help and I hope we have all learned something, I know I have. The "PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH" sign will be made and used. 767REP2008-07-10 09:31:32
