We are all doomed if the US auto industry goes down the tubes.

I get a big kick out of these guys. Arriving in company owned private jets with a "tin cup" in their hands. Go figure. Corporate greed big time.....

It's funny how they ask for money to keep the plants open. The ones in Mexico, Ontario Canada and others remain open yet they are closing or slowing plants in the U.S. 10-12 Billion isn't going to do squat for them. GM says they are burning a Billion a day.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Ok, so seriously - what are they going to do? Agreed - these guys don't have a clue. I agree that it is big trouble for everyone if even one of the three goes down, but how do we fix it?
The CEO of Chrysler agreed that he would drop his salary to $1 /year, but both the top guys at GM and Ford said that wasn't "necessary." None of them know how much money it's going to take to "fix" things and that's clearly because they DON'T HAVE A PLAN!!!
The President of the UAW was on the news tonight saying how bad it's going to be. My guess is he's not going to volunteer for people to take pay cuts or anything of the like.
I think a number of groups have skin in the game here, but none of them are willing to pony up to get it resolve (if they are, I haven't heard them speak up yet). I'm not trying to bash anyone, but come on! Go to congress to ask for $25 BILLION without a plan for how to spend it? No idea how much each of the big three get!?
With all of the great minds in business out there today, it's a shame none of them can figure out what to do here.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Soooo so much for a new generation Corvette to gawk at huh?!
But on a serious note...These guys really want their cake and wanna eat it too.
1) If it is not necessary they take a pay cut why is it then necessary that taxpayers should pony up more money for a failing Corp (well 3).
2) Look at the Detroit Lions, see how well that team has been run, They did the same thing to that team that they did to their industry!
3) I am also a little sick of hearing that it was the Unions fault. IT STARTS AT THE TOP. It is poor White collar management first (that includes our representatives that we have been electing), then I also think that our free trade system is a joke. It really seems to benefite importers of goods, Which coincidently most of the goods we consume are imported. I would love to find a peice of electronic equipment that is made exclusivly in the USA, You cant because I dont think it exists.
I hope for all our sake that we get some leaders in the private sector as well as in Washington that will get their heads outta their butts and see what is really happening.
