Ranger, What do you think about an 86 cabriolet? I found a one owner white, black guts, black roof car. Psychopathically maintained and needs zero work. The owner is the brother of a car club buddy. Solid #2 car showing more interior patina then age. Exterior is sharp. Just tuned/brakes/tires/clutch/valve adj. The guy is getting remarried and the couple will have 4 classics and they dont want 2 911's. The car has 65k on the clock and price is 17500.00 firm. I also know the mechanic on the car and he says it is rock solid and up to date.. Thoughts? Thanks, Kevin..

Vette(s): #1 -1969 Corvette Coupe Riverside Gold, black interior,MN,A/C,350/350,PS,PB,window cranks.
#2 -2000 C5, black/black, 6 sp, Bose system & lots of buttons.
Oh no, Kevin.........a Porsche??!!! When I had my C2, I was dating a guy in the '80's that drove a Porsche (the whole dash moved, but can't remember which one it was - he could sure suck face good
). I was not that impressed, but I didn't drive it either. Maybe I should not say anything more because I'm too much of a "Hard Core Vette Lover."

Kebo,
I don't know the market up north but that is a great deal down here. If you know the maintenance history on the car that is a huge plus. The risk on these things is buying one that has been neglected. I would have a good tech do a compression check and do a good inspection. It if checks out, I would own it! That is a great buy for that low mileage.
Good Luck,
Scott

Scott, The nice thing is the car is maintained at the same place that I do some work for. I'm having the car completely looked at on Sunday incl a comp test. The owner was offered 16.5k from a dealer so Im thinking 17.5 is quite fair too. Micki and Joel are afraid when I see them in April, we may not have on matching Vette shirts. My fear is if I buy this car, Dwain may never talk to me again... I've owned Italian cars, Im not too afraid of a Porsche...

I have owned 4 Porsche's and you have the most important info going for you which is the maint. history and having the car inspected.I know I will take some abuse for this on this forum but if you haven't owned a 911 you owe it to yourself to experience the thrill. Any super car you have a chance to own or drive is a rush not to be missed."http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z75/767rep/IM000126.jpg" "http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z75/767rep/IM000436.jpg"

Kebo,
If that 911 checks out, it would be a 21K car here at a minimum. I don't think you can go wrong. Make sure the tech checks for outstanding recalls or TSB's. These can be expensive if the previous owner has ignored them.
Good luck!

Hi, I also have owned 4 porsches and would buy another if the car had a
good history. They handle great and better than the best C3 every built.
Once you learn how to track them you will know how far you can push it.
As far as costs go they can be a little pricey to get parts for but labor is
no worse than the newer vettes. My last Porsche was an 89 Carrera 4
and a blast to drive, decent gas milage, and high resale value. Try it you
may like it. If you can buy it right you wont lose. Good Luck
PS I never owned a water cooled model which can be a dissater.
Thaks for the advice. The 1 thing I learned today was the recall for the "chain" and "studs" was done and done again as prevent maint last year. Like I've said, I've owned Alfas. When a fuels pump and coil is 1200.00, no more Alfas...
