Does anybody remember a one wheeled trailer for a car back in the 1950's??
I can remember when I was growing up as a kid in the 50's a one wheeled trailer for a car. It clamped in 2 places to the rear bumper on each side and had one small rubber tire wheel in the center that swiveled. The trailer wasn't very long, just a few feet. In fact maybe it wasn't even called a trailer?
It had no trailer hitch just the 2 clamps.
Probably came from MonkeyWards or Sears..
Anyway, any help? Maybe ebay? What it was named? I haven't done any search yet. Just wanted to refresh my memory and see a picture of one again. THANKS

I remember as a kid in the '60's at a campground. Someone pulled into the site next to us with some kind of popup camper with one wheel. Just like you said it was mounted to the bumper in 2 places. I remember watching them back in with no problem at all. Have no idea what it was.

That's it....Thanks Joel
.
And yes Jeff, now that you mention it, I can remember those one wheeled tent trailers too. Anyway that site that Joel found, looks like it has it all.
Also I will have to check ebay and see what I find?
Anyway the concept was just interesting to me. You would think with the smaller cars, you would see these trailers again.
Another thing I remember about them, was that they were easy to back up! No tongue, no hitch...

I remember those from when I was a kid. That would be the perfect thing to haul luggage to Hot Springs behind my baby. Not a lot of storage room inside.

I was thinking the same thing Larry. That type a trailer would be perfect for a vette. Would only need to be long enough to hold some luggage. Guess a guy could make one from scratch. Something to think about?
Thanks...

HEY STEVE,,YEP, i DO REMEMBER THAT ONE WHEEL TRAILER,my Dad used to hook it up to the car,,He would cuss for a half hour cause the bumper clamps were so aggrevating, we would load up with camping gear and head off boggity, boggity to the boy scout camping spot, then he would cuss another hour trying to get the thing undone, We would do the camping thing for a night and lo and behold the entire Procedure would start all over, That little trailer would bounce all the way home, the tire only hit the ground 1/3 of the way home,,,,darn they was good ole days,,rd

Youse guys might have a pretty tough time tryin to get one of those things hooked up to a rubber-bumper car...ain't nuthin there to hitch it to!
Rickd is right about the tire only touching the ground every once & a while...I remember seeing them thangs many times.
