How did the younger guys do?
The big question is were you when you saw your first TV program.
I bet there are a lot out there that do not remember the color sheet they sold that started out brown on the bottom and was blue on the top so you could put it on your TV and watch color programs. Any other families own one?
Yes I know that everyone under 50 will not have the slightest idea what I'm talking about.

I'm 55 and I don't remember the color sheet, just black and white, later color. We were pretty Lucky in Md. We could pick up NBC, CBS, ABC, and a bunch of uhf stations from Baltimore AND Washington,D.C. And as always, Joel got it right, but you gotta admit I was close!

Got 'em all right -- course, we had ABC, NBC, and CBS here in Colorado Springs. First TV was a big Zenith console that took up half a wall and always needed the tuner jiggled. Took a trip to see color TV, went to the grandparents to watch NBC and the peacock.

finally arrived and rarin' to ride

I saw my first TV in 1952 when I went to California with my folks. They had it in the room where I slept and I watched that thing for days. Didn't care what was on, just fascinated with it. We got our first TV in 1954, a round picture tubed Sparticus brand. We had it in the living room and set up a mirror to see it in the kitchen when we ate supper. We had all three major networks in Wichita. Sure brings back old memories.... by the way, I got them all correct... what do you expect, I'm almost older'n dirt!!

I met the Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore). He was appearing at a festival about 50 miles south of my town when I was about 10. I begged my parents to take me down there. I shook his hand and it was a great thrill.
Then I got back in line and shook his hand AGAIN!
Some of you may know of my tribute to the Lone Ranger on my License Plate...

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Our first TV was a Strongberg Carlson.............I wonder if anyone remembers that brand?

My dad went to grade school in a one-room-school house in rural, southern Minnesota and he DID have to walk 3 miles to school, unless Grandpa felt generous and let dad take the mule....the worst that I can come up with for my kids was this "In my day, we did not have remote control for the TV's, we had to get up and change the channel by hand". I do remember that a MUNTZ console TV was the one that you aspired to get (at least in my area). I also remember that our cat always liked to lay on top of the console TV (RCA).
My dad never liked potatoe salad, because of his walking to school days. In the winter, his mother would get up in the middle of the night and put a could of potatoes in the stove. Dad would carry them in his pockets to help keep warm, BUT that was his lunch...cold potatoes.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
My dad alway had a remote control for the TV. It was "ya getup and change the to channel 8" and either me or my sister would go do it. Mostly me because you had to fiddle with the fine tuner a lot and my sister said she could never get it correct.
She was just scamming my dad. He knew it but when you got two remote controls
you alway use the one that works the best.

How many of you had a crystal radio set? I used to connect a wire to our aluminum window frames for an antenna connection. I was supposed to be sleeping, but would listen to Gang Busters. You have to be really old to remember that one.
