BELLY-UP TO THE BAILOUT

The word's coming down from up on the hill

That the first of the big boys got their fill

And now it's time for the second wave

In the land of the not as free or brave.

Voting and the people's voices

Don't mean beans; our only choice is

Watch and wait and watch some more

While robber barons loot the store.

Belly up to the bailout, boys

Buy yourself some more new toys

Can't be stopped by us poor fools

Not when you rewrote the rules.

Automakers plea; denied

Small town bankers? Step aside

Don't you know that your demise

Gives windfalls to the bigger guys?

Yep, that's right--a poison toad

In dead of night rewrote the code

Nothing to negotiate

You'll never leave the starting gate.

Belly up to the bailout, folks

Integrity's become a joke

They won't mess with the status quo

With several billion left to blow

Can we ask, is it ok?

Where is all that cash today?

And how are we supposed to pay

For what you blithely gave away?

Belly up to the bailout guys

Seems that greed and graft and lies

Have now replaced morality

And gone the concept now of 'we'.

For when what's right gets in the way

They just rewrite the rules of play.
