Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Anyone ever get pulled over for speeding and get a warning?
It's happened to me. The cop has discretion on whether or not to write the ticket.
This photo radar stuff sounds like a LOUSY idea.

I think that people who drive like idiots in traffic deserve all the tickets thay get. However, If someone is lettin' er rip where there is no traffic, then the cops discretion should come in to play.

When I got pulled over for speeding there was nobody else on the road. Turned out the cop had a '68 Firebird and had an appreciation for Vettes too. We chatted about cars for a minute and yup, you bet, I kept it under 65 just like he said.

A year or so ago Minneapolis installed cameras at several high accident intersections to catch (and ticket) folks who were running red lights.  The city made a fair amount of money from the tickets that were issued but the accident rates did go down at those intersections.

Then some "smart-alec" decided to challenge the system AND WON...!!!  The city was forced to remove the cameras, refund the ticket fines, and then watched as the accident rates climbed again.  Some cameras are good (believe it or not!).

We do have red-light cameras in certain areas of Dallas, and surrounding suburbs. There are also some municipalities that do operate photo-enforced radar for speeding.

The biggest issue I have is them knowing WHO was actually driving the vehicle at the time. No matter WHO it was, the registered owner of the vehicle gets the ticket, and there's NO defense. So...if you leave your car with a valet parking attendant, at a repair shop, or anything like that, they could get you a red-light ticket, and/or a speeding ticket. I just don't think it's a good idea.
Red-light cameras are good, if for no other reason than people are more careful when they know there's one there.

There are also toll-roads with photo "toll takers". You get on the road, and go where you're going, and a few days later, you get an invoice in the mail! I didn't know about this until recently.
We went to a club meeting down a stretch of road about 5 miles, and as I exited, my radar detector went nutz on LASER. There were NO cops around any where, nor was it near an airport. A few days later, we got a "bill" for .74c in the mail!

What'll they think of next, to keep track of us all?
