Larry, thanks for posting this. My brother lives in Slidell La. That's just north of New Orleans. He has the bayou in his backyard. He had sort of a friendly gator that would come when called. He would feed it. One day he came outside to see his grandson feeding it with his hand............well that really did it. He called the animal warden to move it away from the area. We have three stray cats that we take care of. One I saved from some racoons that was trying to eat him when he was a tiny kitten. I got him away and took him into my garage. They tore off the entire RIGHT side of his face. I didn't see an ear and his eye was non existant. I kept working on his wounds with warm salt water. He held for me to do that. It must have made him feel better. At times I thought that I was fighting a losing battle. I was afraid that he was getting infected becuase he kind of had a bit of a odor. I would go out and play with him for hours. He finially healed. His ear recovered except his eye socket is stretched open at one end. He has an eye, but it glows different when lights hit it. I think he can see out of it. He is my best pal. I named him Popeye............I'll bet you can't guess why? After six months of sleeping on my Corvette (he likes it and tells all the other cats that he had a Corvette bed) I let him free. I took him to have him neutered, but he still likes me. He runs around during the day but at 11:00 at night, I open the door to come in and sleep in the house. I love that guy!!! Sorry for the long reply.  Corrected to  the right side. Picture below.

Glad you enjoyed that video, I thought it was awesome.  My wife is from Rayne, La. which is just west of Lafayette.  Her family farmed rice and crawfish.  That is a great story about you and Popeye.  We have a cat, too, she is named Bandit because she has a black stripe across her eyes.  She won't let any neighborhood cats come in our yard and is also a good mouser.

Larry, sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was staining my cedar siding on the west end of my house. As I was hanging off of my 28 foot ladder Popeye walks by. I asked him if he wanted to help............nope he went into my open garage door. I came down and left him in for more food and more sleep. He slept until I came in the house at 4:30 EDT. He wanted out but more food and to be with the other two cats outside. Now more importantly Bandit is a KEWL name for a KEWL cat. You and your darling wife are GREAT people.............I like people like you guys!Clap

That's my big guy Popeye. Earlier on; I named him Kato. As I would come home from work entering the garage, he would lunge out from hiding, grab me around the ankle, then disappear before I could even see him. That was like Peter Sellers in "The Pink Panther"
