I was wondering...if I'm planning on getting a new CD,etc. deck with a flip out screen eventually, would I just be better off getting one with GPS built-in ,or get a seperate window mount GPS unit instead?

That depends. Do you want the ability to transfer the GPS from one vehicle to another or not.

I was considering the Pioneer flip out GPS/CD and whatever else it had unit. But it can't be easily transfered from one vehicle to the other. Unless it's a pull out unit. And that I don't know. So this GPS fits the need. It takes all but 60 secs to mount and turn on. Good luck with your decision. Let us know what you buy and how you like it.
Yeah, thats true...it would be nice to be able to use it in my 3 vehicles. I was at Costco today,& they have a couple of StreetPilots at good prices. I forgot to write down the models numbers,in order to tell you guys about it,but I cant afford GPS rite now anyhow. My vette goes into the shop next week for a hi-rise style hood fitting & paint.then I'll see if I can get the vertical doors done as well

I bought the Tom Tom GO910 yesterday, I guess time will tell. I have been playing with it, learning how it works . I really like the computer docking station. I can program addresses and destinations as well as points of interest through the USB port. It talks to you as you drive telling you when to turn and even says the road names to turn on. Its easy to program and navigate, all with touch screen. Since I really don't know that much about a GPS, I went to the info site and  came to the conclusion that most of the negative posts were made by people that have no idea how to do anything but swipe their credit card. The people that did leave positive feedback about the GPS had some very informative  tips and tricks to add to the knowledge base on the site. I did buy about 4 years of extended warranty for it. Those of you that have bought  your GPS, how is it working for you so far? As of right now I feel that this is the best grand (had to buy a few extras and the warranty) I have spent in a while. I called Norsky yesterday almost sick to my stomach after buying it. I was searching for information from a person that wasn't a salesman. I think he got a good chuckle out of me. I like  thinking that I did my homework when I make a purchase but this time I was at the mercy of a salesman and stupid peoples reviews of products online. I actually did not buy the one the salesman was pushing but the one I thought was the best product for my use.

I also have a laptop in my tahoe & use M/S map point which talks to you & shows a map of the area you're drive through & much much more. Still have the Magellan in the vet. They are both very usefull tools. Have a good friend that just bought  the tom tom & he loves it
Hey Sarge, Are you still happy with your GPS?
Dave,
Yes we are very happy with our GPS. (Garmin Nuvi 350) Even though the unit is compact, the screen is easy to see. Voice commands are clear and precise. The automatic night screen feature is nice while driving at night.

On our way home from PF, the unit even let us know of a couple shortcuts available on the route. We used these shortcuts and shaved 20 minutes off our travel time. The only thing that I see wrong with this unit is that you only get about 3 hours use off of battery power. So we usually plug it in to the car/trucks power point during usage.
We do use it often. Sure beats writing down directions.
