Otay, ya'll...I'm fixing to put the censor software to the test on this....
Got a call today, about 10am, from the storage facility where I have my BIG tool box stored, along with ALL of my test/shop equipment. Seems some low life c o c k s u c k i n g   A S S H O L E S drove a truck & trailer thru the fence, and broke into my storage building. (They also broke into a couple others, but I don't really give a s h i t about them.)
I lost well over $100,000 worth of stuff, and they TOTALLY destroyed my $15,000 tool box. I can't even begin to determine what all is gone, other than EVERY F U C K I N G thing in the box...sockets/wrenches/air tools/specialty tools....everything.
My engine hoist, engine stand, ALL of the friggin adapters for my brake lathe(over $3000 ALONE), and 2 smaller tool boxes full of trans parts/shift kits...
My brake lathe, at about 600 pounds, was sitting out in the area in front of the building, dumped over. I had it sitting on a dolly, because it's so damned heavy, it's the only way I can move it around down there.
I'm so p i s s e d I don't even know what to do now...I can't replace a lot of that stuff that I've had for 30 years or so. Plus, I don't really have any kind of "inventory" on that s h i t ...
Some of it has my name on it, but most of it don't...
The tool box itself is totally f u c k e d up beyond repair. This was a box that was about 3 years old, and not a friggin scratch on it...now it ain't nothing but a big, expensive pile of S H I T ...
Cops can't do s h i t, since I don't have "serial numbers" for any of it...who the f u c k ever heard of serial numbers on a goddam screwdriver?

I'm gonna check with our homeowner's insurance, because I know that some of my tools/equipment is covered even if it is stored away from the home. Of course, I'm sure they'll want to know the f u c k i n g serial numbers on the screwdrivers, too...

I put this in this forum so it wouldn't offend anyone, language-wise...but I HAD to VENT...I'll cry later...kill if I ever find the chicken-s h i t mother f u c k e r s....Adams' Apple2007-05-14 21:07:10

Yup, vent away... don't blame you at all. Wish there were sum neat words which might help but none spring to mind. This just plain sux. Have comfort that what goes around comes around, and with luck those who did this to you will find themselves up close and personal with a high speed Kenworth or some other silmilar stroke of appropriate fortune. Fingers crossed..

.....I've gone from pissed to depressed...
I have to try to get some sort of list made of all the crap that's gone...not an easy task, considering what all was there. Some of it was brand new stuff I haven't even used yet. Every time I start thinking about it, I remember something ELSE that was in that box/building I had forgotten about. I've got a "off the top of me head" list started, and it's already over $25,000 of s h i t I can think of without even looking. That's just the major stuff, like test equipment...there's tons of smaller stuff I don't use regularly that I keep remembering...
This is not like my fence blowing over, or trees falling in the storms...that stuff I can fix...this is something I can't recover from...I can't afford to "start over" replacing all this stuff.......

Thanx for the replies...I don't think insurance is gonna do any good, since I don't really have any "proof" of what was there...

Joel,

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate burglary. Keep an eye on e-bay and maybe some of your equipment will show up.
There are probably local places like pawn shops that might see the equipment.
The more people that know about this and keep their eyes open for your stuff, the better the chances of catching these creeps.

For the rest of us, it pays to video tape your valuables, no matter where you keep them.

It's a sad world we live in today, but if you don't lock everything up all the time, some B A S T A R D will steal it.

Sorry to hear of the bad luck Joel.  I suppose the storage facility has a "not responsible for lost items" clause in their paperwork.  Regardless it sounds like an inside job to me, someone had to know where to look for good stuff if only certain units were broken into.

Well, our home-owner's insurance will cover the loss...
We have a $1500 deductible, and they'll pay $500 total over that...woo-f u c k i n-hoo...
I stopped in there tonite, and gathered what was left...it all fit in a cardboard box, 8" x 8"...
At least they didn't get the brake lathe, or the tire machine...course, I can't use the friggin lathe without the attachments...

JESUS, Joel!!!!!!!!!

I hadn't been on this part of the forum for a while and didn't understand what you meant in your email.

I know what you mean about the cops.  I've had break-ins and cut tops before and had to threaten to call the Mayor to get them to bother to dust for prints, but if THEY want something, you don't have a choice.

I know we have cops on here and I know they aren't all bad, but there are some out there that really give the rest of you guys a bad nameAngry

I agree with Chris, maybe Karma will come to them in the form of tons of steel, hopefully, with full time for complete recognition of the coming event!  Better still, kneecaps and elbows with a .45.
