Otay, most of ya'll know I've had some troubles with my 'puter lately....again... I been holdin off on doing a full restore for several reasons, one of which is I'm just too lazy, but that's another story for another time. Anyway, I got some info from one of my fellow transmission tech forum guys about this AV/Malware software, and he said it was pretty good...and free, so.....you know me...FREE is GUD!
I downloaded it about a month ago, and it has found, and deleted the nasty virus/malware that was givin me fits, and causing this puter to do really stoopid stuff.
I have on this puter:
AVG anti-virus/rootkit protection
Ad-Aware Plus with Ad-Watch
Spy Doctor
Windows "Defender" & Malicious software removal tool
NONE of these could find/remove the nasties I had, but this Malwarebytes program DID. It took a few complete scans to completely get the bad stuff off, but it seems to have done the trick. I've been waiting to post this until I was fairly certain it had worked, and I believe it has. All of my scans are clean, from all of the AV programs I have. I run them all at least once every day(at different times, of course). I gotta say, I like this one so far.
So....anyone here use this stuff, and how do YOU like it?

I fix/repair computers as a side business and want to issue a caveat: NO program consistantly finds all the bugs, but Malwarebytes is probably one of the best.  Sometimes you have to run programs from different companies to eliminate the nasties.
Here's another great FREE program:  WWW.ccleaner.com

Thank you Joel and John. I've run the Malwarebyte's check for two and a half hours. In the first few minutes it found three infections. The check is still in progress.

Yeah...there ain't ANY program that will get all of the nasties off...which is why I run several different ones. I'm glad , John, you didn't say that this Malwarebytes was a bad deal for some reason. It seems to have helped on mine, anyway.
I've run into some of the "free" down loadable stuff, from name brand companies, but once you run a scan, and it finds something, it won;t remove it....you have to PAY for that service!

I'll check out the WWW.ccleaner.com....thanks!

Found it interesting that the Malwarebytes scan flagged the Ad-Aware files but not the other way around.   Confused

I also d-loaded the "Qoofix v1.04", and the "E3TakeOut 1.01"(both from Malwarebytes)
These two programs sped my puter up amazing fast. It's as fast now as it was when I bought the dang thing 3 years ago!
I dunna no...I just know that whatever it was messin this thing up appears to be GONE...that's all I care aboot.

Norsky, mine also picked up files for/from the AdAware program...that's one of the reasons I first thought the issue had come to me thru one of the AdAware updates. I think now, however, it is finding stuff that AdAware has quarantined. That's just my idea, tho...I really don't know anything aboot this kind of stuff...if it ain't got boobs or tires, I'm gonna have problems with it....

John, I did nab the "ccleaner" you recommended. Haven't installed it yet, but I prolly will this weekend.
I'm gonna wind up with more AV stuff on this thing than pictures!
