Now that I am about done with the vette(I know you are never really done). I picked up this bucket of bolts. Made a 2-1/2 hour run to Coeur d Alene Idaho last night after work. Here are some pics I just took.Wink

Looks like a good starter project, Glenn.  At least it looks like it's all there, and in decent condition. Keep us posted on it!

Those are great Glen. Very practical, super reliable, and not too complicated to work on.

Nice lil bike!
The green flames tell me that it may be a 70's early 80's model.........??
I just got a bike a few months ago myself, still learning to ride it, not ready yet for a cruise but I'm getting there. They sure are fun!

Good luck with it!

Well I got the motor out, side cases off and the top end off. Had a couple for broken rings but the barrels and pistons don't looked scored. Did find a some metal filings at the base of the oil pump pick-up screen. Clutch plates look good and no sludge build. I ordered up a flywheel wheel puller and a spanner socket to pull the oil filter. Then I will head into the bottom end. The splines on the kick start spindle and the splines on the shifter shaft are toast. So I guess I need to track down some good used ones. One carb float bowl was full of white powder and the float pivot pin is frozen in place. May need to track down one carb while I'm at it. At least their slide diaphram are good.

Thanks Steve
I have been watching for the kick start spindle and shifter spindle. I see both are listed on ebay. Got into the bottom end and all looks good. I checked the barrel and it is at the upper limit and honing did not clean-up the wear from the rings at the top. Looks like I am going to have to find someplace to bore it out.

Update with a few picture for those who are bored. I should have the engine and carbs done by mid-November. Ignore the dust on the vette, its just a big magnet and everything sticks to it. We still have a lot of dust floating in the air. Probably from when Mt St Helens blew its top.
