Either you two guys watch a lot of old TV shows or you're older than I am.

My favorite episode of the Twilight Zone was where the wife of a wealthy plantation owner was "fooling around" with the man who took care of the plantation. The owner had a servant put a earwig in the ear of the man while he was sleeping. The man was in severe pain as the earwig started eating through his brain, so much so that they had to tie him to the bed. After a couple of months the earwig came out the other ear. The man was so relieved that the pain was over until.....the doctor came to check on him, looked in his ear and discovered that the earwig had laid eggs in his brain.

BTW Joel, I CANNOT see those casting numbers, even with a mirror and laser light. That brake booster and tranny rod makes it impossibe.

Thanks Joel. So, does that mean that one of the exhaust manifolds isn't matching? Cry If so, would it still be considered a matching numbers car?

How do you see one that doesn't "match"? (otay..so I fergot to insert "283/327" on the 965 mnfld...geez...so sue me)
Jest whut 'zactly have you been "working hard" on? 16 ouncers?

It appears that you do have the original engine in this one. All of the nums you have given would be "correct" for the car. I cain't see someone "faking" this thang.

Joel,

I tried to post last night but for some reason the system wouldn't accept my post.  Thanks so much for your help with this. Without you and Reid I would still be wondering what engine I have here. I misread your post about the manifold exhaust and at first thought I had 2 different ones. Confused

I've  been cleaning on the car for over a week now and still have a long way to go. I actually had to use paint remover to get all the crud off the windows. When I finish, I hope to post some before and after pics.

One last number to check here Joel. Does the old cast iron tranny have casting numbers on it? LOL
