C3VR Annual Meeting at the
Saturday, October 13, 2007, 1:30 PM
Dave Wright moderated.
Approximately 25 members and guests attended.
Reviewed the minutes of the meeting on June 24, 2006 at Pigeon Forge, TN.
Posting pictures is still a mystery for some. Instructions are in a thread, but should be easier to find and easier to understand.
How can we tell if items for sale have been sold? Suggested that the moderator send an e-mail or PM to the inactive posts asking if sold or not. If still for sale, add an update to the post. If sold, add post saying SOLD and lock down the thread.
Still need a steering committee. Still need guidelines from Adam. Should the moderators be the steering committee? Or should it be on a regional basis? Felt that the moderators are not forceful enough. Need leaders who will represent the members. Need to establish regional leaders who will direct and organize regional get-togethers. Operate as clubs vs. the C3VR company. Felt that nothing has happened regarding this.
ACTION ITEM: Dave Wright will start a thread to discuss online and ask for volunteers to lead the effort. Tux (Larry) volunteered to lead
Dave W. reminded everyone that the 2008 calendar needs a picture of your Vette. Deadline is Oct. 31. Past winners are not eligible.
Roc and Adam stopped in. The NCM has dropped the Classic Corvette Extravaganza as well as several other low attendance events. They would like to highlight specialty groups during large events, such as Labor Day. They also want to work with us to make our visit special. If we decide to attend as a club on our own, they can provide services such as helping us put an agenda together, registering attendees on-line, contacting local attractions and restaurants, collecting the fees, providing tour maps, special museum tours, etc. We would need a regional leader to facilitate this event if there is enough interest.
Meeting ended at 2:40 PM.
From notes taken by White78.
Thanks Tom

Thanks to Tom & Dave for putting the list together and getting it online.
Thanks to Dave for facilitating the meeting in my absence.
If someone could volunteer to create an easy-to follow, step-by-step instructions for posting pictures (I nominate Joel or Jim) then I can add it to the Help page, and perhaps put a link somewhere that makes sense.
Good thoughts on the For Sale forum. Do we have a current moderator(s) of that forum? If so, we should start doing this. If not, we need to get a moderator or two.
What would be the purpose of a "steering committee"?
What should the moderators be doing that they are not currently?
I've wanted to establish regional leaders for quite some time and have brought up the subject numerous times yet never really got any volunteers. Can we get some volunteers now? (Besides Tux)

I can "volunteer" to serve as a "regional" chair, but...how would the specific regions be determined? State by state?
Local to your particular area? Does it matter?
I would like to get the D/FW(and surrounding areas) members together for a local "Gathering", which I think we could do. But I don't know about a multi-state shin-dig. The Texas area would be hard enough to try to do this, much less a 4-5 state happening. What exactly are we talking about here? Local, or a true
"Regional" event? Some of youse guys could get a state-wide thing going pretty easily, considering youse can drive all the way across the state in a hour or so!

Without going back to look at the notes from the '06 meeting, I seem to recall that the "steering committee" idea was brought about to get help in organizing local C3VR stuff, and helping with the distribution of literature(flyers, etc) at the larger shows across country, since Adam can't possibly be everywhere, and attend any of the localized "Mini-Gatherings".
Seems like a lot of members wanted to have more localized events, other than just the official "Gathering" once a year, and the idea of the steering committee was to facilitate that. Perhaps I am mistaken?
I am all over the place, as far as moderator duties, but I have to admit, I hardly ever look in the For Sale forums. Seems to me the person posting the thread should be responsible for stating if the item has been sold, or not, and after a reasonable time, if not sold, the thread should be locked. Just an opinion.
