Actually, as a kid I was a good lad. The problems all started when I got my drivers liscense. My parents did not drive so I had to buy my own or walk. I ended up with what my parents wanted cause the insurance was under their name. It was a little Malibu 6 cylinder auto. Pretty little car but absolutely no get up and go ! Sold it and bought a '57 Crown Victoria with a 312 Thunderbird engine and three on the floor. Somewhere during that time frame my life changed for the worse ( or better depending on how you look at it ). I do like my high performance cars !

Yea, you can't just leave us hanging and wondering about this....we gotta know! lol Did you live in a big city where you could take trains and/or subways? My dad taught my mom how to drive after they got married. She had enough money for a new car in 1943, but there were no cars to buy. She used the money to buy a lot for the house that dad built, curtains, stove and a washing mashine, the type with a wringer. I think the wringer part is still around the house someplace.

Come on Glenn! We can see that you're posting your little tail off, so how bout telling us why your folks didn't drive? Rick don't wanna go there, but I will! lol Rick, I'm one of those people who hate to be left hanging. He brought it up, now he's just gotta tell us! Wonder how Adam's doing cruising? I'm getting tired of looking for him!

My parents never had driver's liscenses because they never took the test nor did they ever need one. No, we did not live in a city. We always lived in the suburbs. My mother quit work when I was born and went back to work when I went into 7th grade. She took the bus and or train. My father either took the bus or got a ride from my uncle.
Also, they just never had a desire ( or a need ) to drive or the money to buy a car. What ever extra money they had went for food or clothes.

Now I feel bad. Sorry Glenn. Was it during the depression era or during the civil war? Just kidding. It is just hard for me to understand. No offense. I grew up a coal miners son and when my Dad worked on 1 or 2 days a week, we ate cornbread.
