Adam,
Don't worry, life goes on and so will this great site. Now if it was a black hole sucking the earth in, then I would worry.LOL I did have to recast my vote though.
Adam, I don't know if it's my computer or not, but every link to the left of your post (in "Featured Links") seems to be dead.
It may be your set up. Those links are working for me.  You have to make sure that new pop-up windows are allowed.  Try holding down your CTRL key while you click the link.  If that doesn't work, please expand on what you mean by "Dead".  What exactly happens when you click on it?  Does a new window pop-up?  If so, what is in the window? etc.

Thanks!

All five links popped up in new windows for me.  But three of the five links returned the dreaded  "The page cannot be displayed" info page.

I'll try again later.

Ditto here.  3rd and 4th links worked fine (Amazon site), 1st, 2nd, 5th were as noted by Norsky.  Tried Ctrl and also rt-click "open in new window", same things happened.  Hmmm...

Compared to CorvetteForum's unexplainable crashes & errors our misfortune was a small blip in the greater scheme of things.

I suppose that's true.  They get a heck of a lot more traffic than C3VR does.  So it makes sense that they'd have more trouble.  However, due to the relatively small amount of traffic C3VR gets... we shouldn't have any trouble.  But sharing the database server can certainly be a problem.

Hey... on the bright side, since the server switch was completed, I have not seen a single database communication error.  (knocking on wood)

They may get a lot more traffic Adam but they don't have the quality of posts that we have here. They also have had continual support & software issues since I joined there in 1/02. I think that taking everything into consideration that one crash in the 3 years that I've been here is pretty dang good. Don't blame yourself for events beyond your control. I'm sure that no one blames you. I certainly don't.

In general terms, yes. It's when you run into unexpected problems when things can get challenging. Just like fixing a problem on a C3 is easy - in theory. But then problems start cascading and before you know it you have a big mess to fix.

Well, it has been 24 hours since the site was brought back up and there has not been one communication error.  So, seems so far it was a good move! (despite the data loss)
