bacre (Bob) has made, what I consider to be, an amazing offer! In regards to those of you that have said they can not pay the $10 membership fee, here is Bob's offer:

bacre said: I will pay {yanglers} membership for one year. And will consider paying some of the other "dropouts" if they can send me an explanation as to why they can't pay the membership (i.e. laid off, just had a baby and wife had to quit work, etc. etc.) The person has to send me a detailed explanation - not just a "I can't afford to pay the membership". If they have a "sincere" reason as to why they can't pay it....I will consider the first 10 who send an acceptable reason - acceptable to me...bob acre...

If you want to be one of the 10 people he pays for, reply to this thread to state your reason why you can't pay. And as he stated, if he finds your reason worthy, he'll pay your way for 1 year.

ONLY Reply to this thread if you would like to be considered for the one of the 10 free memberships.
DO NOT reply just to comment on the offer. We know it is a great offer, and we know Bob is being very generous. It will make things easier if the replies are only requests for a free membership.

Thanks Bob!

Vette(s): 1982 bad shape for now
I found this site a while ago after "inheriting" a 1982 coupe from my son who could not afford to get it running. I swapped him cars to get him on the road and I now have a project sitting in the driveway. I'm sure I will need some guidance along the way. I have already bought the manuals and I am currently waiting for the Texas summer to get to a comfortable 100ish to start working on it. |saluteflag|

Recieved my vette as a payment for some work I did on their house. I got a 1973 blue vette, but it does need work, it's a good driver. I am unfortunatley still in need of funds for other things in my life, i.e. 3 youngers & wife. I've used this site and visit it frequantly and find in helpful. Currently having brake problems so the car is sitting till I save up for the parts slowly. I will miss it. Thanks for the offer if chosen.

Vette(s): 1975 t-top coupe
I bought my '75 last year, my senior year in highschool. The car had barely any paint, the bumpers were dried to the point were if you touched them the fell to pieces, the t top seals leaked, the carpet had gone from med saddle to an erie green, radio was missing, a/c was missing, emissions were gone, it had no brakes, and more rust under the hood than a honda. The only things that drew me to the car was the brand new 4 bolt main small block and the fact that i had wanted a c3 since i was like 5. In the past year i've pulled the motor and trans, cleaned and painted the motor installed an oil pump, water pump, demon carb, edelbrock intake, oil pan, timing and valve covers, stainless sleaved calipers, stainless brake lines, a windshield, electric fan, carpets, window, door, and t top seals, and right now i am working on a custom painless performance wiring harness that relocates the fuse box to the center compartmentin the rear. All this i've done while working at the local mcdonalds for barely more than minimum wage and while splitting the cost of a 69 chevelle. It's been tough but the cruises down rt 9w along the cliffs overlooking the hudson river with the tops off remind me that it is worth it.

Hi Bob,
I'm not doubting this is a great offer but...I haven't proved to myself that it warrants a $10.00 investment on my part. I've used the discussion forums a couple of times with inconclusive results but that's it. I guess I'm still in an evaulative mode. If your offer still stands, thank you.

I'm on SS, devorced, car is old, live with a lady that wont ride in my vette cause it's too noisy and I drive too fast, she is too old to get in and out by her self, I'm on BP meds, I'm on both knees with my hands clasped beggin for your pitty to pay for my year.
Oh, lets see if I can find a more believable story, I'm a cheap BAS#@%D! According to my wife ( she is the one that will not ride in my vette )
You have made a very nice offer, thanks,
