Adam,
If the weather forecast is good, I plan on making the trip. (Trying to recruit another '71 and/or a co-pilot for me.) By the way, I've heard hotel rooms are difficult to come by. For all you PA folks, what's the word on where to stay? Harrisburg? Lancaster? Hershey? Grandma's basement? |haha|

Joe,
If you can get a room in Harrisburg, go for it. Hershey is a little further away, but not that far.

Sorry, Grandma's basement is already booked.

I booked a room in Harrisburg. It was the closest I could find at the time. I'd recommend trying there.

Hey experienced vette folks,
For those of us who have not been to Carlisle before, please let us know a bit more about what kind of vendors/services/etc. we can expect to see there. I've heard that not only is it a great place to find parts, you can also have many things fixed &/or installed right there. True? Is there a schedule of "events" for Friday & Saturday or is it just dumb luck who and what you see & when? Thanks !!! ~ Joe |rollysmile|

This should tell you everything you need to know. The only thing it may not tell you is that it is thee biggest Corvette event in the country (that I know of, anyway)

Joe,
If you have any way at all of getting to Carlisle, you GOTTA go. Anything you can imagine that is Corvette related is there. There is even a "rare" Vette display that I think normally has 8 to 12 cars. This year they will have the Corvette Evolution Display in which you will get to see a couple of the C3 registry's folks ( my club has three entries also ). If you are uncomfortable buying used parts, the major suppliers are there in force and usually offer 5 to 10% discounts and free shipping. If you like Corvettes |laugh| walk around the fun field for a few hours where you will find 4 to 5 thousand Vettes of all shapes, sizes and ages. They have NCRS judging and car corrals and auctions. They even usually have a dyno set up.
There is usually a fashion show for the ladies and some other special interest items to keep the the spouses who get tired of looking at car parts happy. They have even had a "beauty" pagent in the past using any attendees who choose to enter. The model who helps us sell our raffle tickets was a contestant one year.
Every paying attendee gets a ticket to a Vette giveaway. I don't know what year or body style it is this year but it is always a nice car.
Anyhow, enough ranting and raving....hope to see you there! |wavey|

Hey all,

As luck would have it, I have a meeting at our home office (that just happens to be in Allentown, PA) on Wed, Thur, and Friday of next week....the week of the Carlise event. |bouncy|

Now for the question. I will be staying over Friday and Saturday nite in Allentown...and am planning to drive to Carlise on Saturday morning. What should I expect? How early should I plan to arrive for parking, where to go....what to see (besides looking up Adam for the free dogs |laugh|)..?

Any other comments / help would be appreciated.....

4 Words - "As early as possible"!

Gates open at 7, and there are already hundreds arriving at that hour!

Basically, you'll want to walk around as much of the grounds as you can. There is MUCH to see, so getting there early allows you a full day to browse.

See ya there!
