Hey Gang!
Here's the info EVERYONE has been waiting for...!!! |bouncy|

C3VR Member Gathering in Bowling Green - 2003

WHEN:
Friday AND Saturday - June 27th & 28th, 2003

Because a number of members were only going to be in Bowling Green one day or the other we thought - WHAT THE HECK, why not get together BOTH days...!!! |cheers| After all, we're going to be there to hook up with folks, right...?!?!? This is meant to simply be a fun time with fellow C3VR Members, so you can join in for as much (or as little) as you'd like to.

So here's what we have planned:

*** UPDATE BELOW *** UPDATE BELOW *** UPDATE BELOW ***

Friday - 6/27
* 1:30pm***
- gather for a road tour. We'll take a spin in the beautiful countryside around the Bowling Green area. The starting point will be Jerry's Restaurant located at 660 Interstate Drive, across Hwy 448 from the NCM (click here for a map). Route info and map will be handed out between 1:00 and 1:30PM. Look for "The Toy" under a C3VR banner in or near the parking lot. We have an interesting drive mapped out so don't be late! We'll be pulling out at 1:30PM sharp...!!! The ending point will be...

*** UPDATE ABOVE *** UPDATE ABOVE *** UPDATE ABOVE ***

* 4:00-6:00pm - gathering for beverages (and food and more beverages and ...) at the Santa Fe Cattle Company. The SFCC is located at 247 Three Springs Road (Hwy 884), which is in the northwest quadrant of the I-65/US 231 interchange on the south side of Bowling Green (click here for a map). We'll have a designated parking area for C3VR Members only so please bring something with to show you're a C3VR'er as space will be limited! 'The ropes' around the parking area come down at 6 o'clock, but we can continue to enjoy each other's company until closing (whenever that is! |cheers| ).

Saturday - 6/28
* 1:30pm***
- gather at the NCM to tour the facility as a group. Your caravan credentials will get you into the museum at no extra charge for the duration of the 50th Celebration. Then we'll regroup and ...

* 4:00-6:00pm - gather for beverages (and food and more beverages and ...) at the Santa Fe Cattle Company, the same place and time as on Friday (click here for a map). We'll again have a designated parking area for C3VR Members only so please bring something with to show you're a C3VR'er as space will be limited! And just like on Friday 'the ropes' around the parking area come down at 6 o'clock, but we can continue to enjoy each other's company until closing (maybe we'll have figured that out by then! |cheers| |cheers|).

*** IF the weather is threatening on Friday (it better not be, right! |hammer| ), we'll do the NCM tour instead and reschedule the road tour for on Saturday. So watch the weather forecast Thursday night or Friday morning. If the weather is at all questionable on Friday the rule of thumb will be - go outside and look up - if your face gets wet (from raindrops!) we'll be going to the NCM.

Steve White (aka SteveW and he who has 'the dubious good fortune of living in Bowling Green...') has graciously offered his assistance (and toolbox) to any C3VR'er who encounters any mechanical troubles while in the Bowling Green area. Contact him if you'd like to have his cell phone number handy.

I'll be staying at The Travel Lodge (which I understand is within crawling distance of the SFCC |thumb| ) and will also have a cell phone with me. Contact me if you'd like my number as well. I'll also have my laptop with so will be able to check for e-mail occasionally.

Both our phones are personal numbers so please respect our privacy and don't give them out to anyone, post them on other internet sites, or scribble them on any restroom walls...!!! We are sharing them with you ONLY for the purpose of critical communication during the gathering in Bowling Green. (btw - we will ask for your cell number in return!)

If you have any questions and/or concerns please post them here to centralize communication so everyone can benefit.

The latest word I've heard from the NCM has the caravan registration count approaching 10,000...!!! This is going to be unreal. |confusing|

Also please check out the post Adam made regarding the need for volunteers during the 50th celebrations ('Volunteers needed for 50th party'). If you can offer some of your time to help out please contact Torie. Be sure to mention you're a C3VR member! I'll be helping out in the NCM's Corvette Store on Sunday morning (8am-noon) so come join in!

And finally, if you haven't seen it already this announcement came from the NCM:
 ------------------------------
Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2003 22:21:57 -0400
From: Roc <rocsvette@comcast.net>
Subject: Fw: Roadside assistance for Caravan

Thanks to some good thinking on the part of a Caravan participant, Chevrolet has agreed to open their Roadside Assistance Group to all Caravan participants (all vintages). See the post below and write down that number and put it in your Vette now. Roadside assistance includes expedited parts delivery, out of gas, flat tire & towing among other things. Now you can travel with a bit more piece of mind.

Roc,

Please can add the following statement to your website to communicate that additional assistance will be available for the caravan.

"Between June 20th, 2003 and July 6th, 2003 a dedicated Corvette Emergency Roadside Assistance Group will be available to registered Corvette Caravan participants at 800-243-8971."
------------------------------

That's nice to know, especially for those of us driving older cars...!!!

See you in BG...!!!

What do you have to have to show that you're a C3VR member?

Most anything that has 'C3VR' on it will do. Window stickers are PERFECT (thanks Jim!), Gold and LifeTime members could use their membership cards, customize the C3VR Window Flyer for display on your dash, print a copy of this thread or the e-mail that was sent out. You get the idea. This isn't going to be like trying to get into Fort Knox but just want to keep as many spaces for C3VR members as possible. (And no we won't discriminate if you're not driving your C3! |no-no| )

*** Forgot to add that any C3VR shirt, sweatshirt, cap, whatever will work too! ***

Good question, thanks!

Sounds like a well made plan.

We are not sure of anything at the moment. We are playing it all by ear. Looks like we will be pulling the 69 on the trailer behind the RV while we follow Dave aka TZracer. For those of you that don't know, he is going to drive his 71 www.tropiczoneracing.com fresh off the frame off three year restification to BG from Florida.

When we get to BG, we will stay at the RV park down from the Beach Bend Raceway. From there, we will drop the 69 and run around.

The road tours are great! In fact, I am much more looking foward to those, than anything else. I don't think we are going to Nashville anyway.

I will pay as I go on the Caravan as I am not preregistered for anything.

So...if this all works out, I am looking forward to meeting you guys.

Chris

Hey Chris,

The NCM has extended the registration deadline until the 17th, so it's not too late to signup. I double checked my email for this from the NCM dated 6/4/2003:
=======================================================
CARAVAN LATE REGISTRATION EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 17

The National Corvette Caravan registration has been extended through midnight (12:00 a.m. CDT), June 17, 2003. Caravan registrations will be accepted through June 17 - registration will not include the Caravan event T-shirt. Late registration credential items will only include Caravan event name badge and caravan event static cling decal. Caravan event T-shirt may be purchased at the event while supplies last.

Late registration credentials will not be mailed and may only be obtained by visiting the NCM Registration & Information tent on the grounds of the Museum. An email confirmation will be sent to all late registrants for participation on the caravan route. Presentation of this email will be required to pick up registration package upon arrival at the Museum.

Register for the National Corvette Caravan and view 50th Anniversary activities here: http://www.nationalcorvettecaravan.com
=======================================================

Here's a direct link to the 50th CARAVAN REGISTRATION form.

I'm not sure if I will be able to attend this event. Would love too, but with my wife and I's new arrival of twins I don't get much time out of the house. Usually just one day over at the shop to mess around or a day to go to an event. I may be able to convince her to come along and bring the twins.

On another note. I live in Portland, TN which is halfway between Nashville, and BG. If any one runs into trouble or needs any assistance I have a lot of tools and stuff to help anyone out that may run into trouble. Maybe I can at leat get by Santa Fe and meet everyone.

Matthew,
Thanks for the offer of assistance...!!! |thumb| If you would please send me an e-mail with a phone number that folks can add to their trip folders in case they need to take you up on your offer.

Hope you (and your better half) can make it over to the SFCC at least one of the evenings! |cheers|

Several folks have mentioned that they will not be driving their C3 to Bowling Green this trip. A question was asked if ONLY C3s were allowed on the C3VR Friday road tour. The answer is NO...!!!

We are all C3VR'ers! It doesn't matter what we drive to BG so don't let that influence your decision on whether or not to join in on the road tour (although you might have to suffer some good natured ribbing for driving a non-C3! |laugh| ).

The more the merrier...!!! |cheers|
