Great questions Vetterbob.  I was curious as well.  I always see many "Welcome so and so" threads and wondered how many actually joined.

Adam, what's the retention rate for standard and gold members over the years?  I'm guessing it's close to the rates for trial members that you listed a few posts ago.  Our membership now is almost 920.  How much have we grown over the years since the membership fee was instituted?

Vette(s): 74 coupe 4 speed 350, 54K actual miles, all original; paint, interior, engine, split bumper. #'s match. 2nd owner, no stress cracks.
To me, the current 15% conversion rate is good, but not great.
Anybody have any ideas? to increase the conversion rate?
I see the free conversion memberships.  Any more ideas?

The only other thing I see, is that we are competing with the other
"free corvette sites" like covetteforum.com.  Might be hard to do?
But at least we are devoted just to the C3Thumbs%20Up....
Just my 2 cents...thinking out loud....THANKS

Competing with other sites?
There is no competition for C3VR!

Possibly, some folks may conceive C3VR as something different, and are not used to seeing folks get along nicely, compared to the "other" sites?
This time of year is when a lot of us work on/update our cars, so there doesn't seem to be as much chatter as we see in the cruizin season. Just an observation.
Perhaps if some C3VR members start Welcoming the new members via P/Ms...a little more personal than the generic messages on the "Welcome" threads.
I know when I originally joined, I forgot about it altogether for a long time. Had someone sent me a personal "Welcome", or something like that, I would have been more active in the beginning, but that's just me.
Just another opinion....

Part ot the Funfest number increase probally can be attributed to Funfest itself adding a day to their agenda. That was another full day of promotional advertisment.
Not to mention the phenominal job done by the hard working folks in the tent. I know the folks I worked with did a super job of telling people why they should be interested in C3VR. It was also a great idea to stage a members car next to the tent for viewing purposes.

Another idea I have heard mentioned that Adam may want to consider is changing a portion of our parking lot tent. Currently it is a hospitality tent for members for to mingle and and sit back and relax.

Maybe another function of this tent should be to provide an oppertuninity to visit with our members. A tent Welcoming Comittee of some sort could be formed.

Previously it was mentioned that some of the tent folks may not have warmed up to folks passing through the C3VR tent if they were unknown. Maybe by knowning that potential new members would be stopping by this welcomming committe could provide the right 1st impression the we truly want to convey. Likewise the potential members can view our cars.

One last thought would be to define to folks what exactly the Registry is. To me a registry indicates a place where data is entered and kept, creating a list.

In this case Vettes between 1968 & 1982. Adam does an excellant job of explaining that and more but I am not so sure the rest of us touched on that as well as Adam. I am fortunate and have had the oppertunity to work with him a couple of times and have picked up on some of his tricks that are important for potential members to know.

C3VR is much more than a registry. Each of the folks here have displayed that time and time again with what they bring to the site.!

All in all this is a great site and the members, moderators, and Adam do a great job of adding content, oppertunity, and most of all fun to what drives most of back to this place each day.

Thanks to all your great!

Well December made a gallant run at the century mark but fell just a bit short.  Still it was only the 4th month of 2007 to have less than 100 new members sign up.

(Unofficial) New Members in 2007:
January: 122
February:  111
March:  108
April:  98
May:  114
June:  92
July:  116
August:  108
September:  126
October:  154
November:  76
December:  91
    Total:  1,316

New Members in 2004:  1,436
New Members in 2005:  988
New Members in 2006: 1,135

Those are some impressive new member counts, yet the total active member count seems hovers just below 1,000.  That doesn't make sense to me.
