I am happy to announce a new email service is now available to C3VR Members.

It is powered by Google and is, in my opinion, the best email service out there!

The email address you'll get will end in @C3VRMail.com

If you would like an account (with 2GB (2048MB) of storage) for free, please PM me and I'll set you up. Just tell me 3 things:
  1. Your First Name
  2. Your Last Name
  3. What you'd like your email address to be yourname@C3VRMail.com
If you currently have a @C3VetteRegistry.com email address you should switch to this new service. I will likely be closing the @C3VetteRegistry.com email service as it costs money. This new service does not.

There is room for 500 email address, so plenty of space for all that want it.

Also, you'll have access to other services such as Calendar, Spreadsheets and Docs!

This is being offered free to all Standard, Gold & Lifetime members of C3VR.

Again, if you are interested, just PM me the info requested above and I will get back to you with your password when your account is set up.

I hope this is just one more feature that will enhance your C3VR Membership!

For your convenience, I have added the login link to the Community menu.

Notes about the new service:
  1. ADDRESS BOOK: If you are a user of C3VR's current email system (everyone.net) you may want to export your address book. However, for some dumb reason, there is no way to export contacts out of Everyone.net. Maybe as a way to try to keep you around. So you'll have to move the ones you want manually into the new system
  2. FOLDERS: Gmail doesn't use traditional "folders". They use "Labels". What you have to do is give a message a "label" like "My Vette" and after you apply the label, you "Archive" the message.  Then your list of Labels show up on the left side and use can go to them like folders. There are just no "sub-labels"
  3. EXISTING EMAIL: If you use everyone.net, you can't do POP retrieval from your everyone.net account because if it is not a paid account. You'll have to manually move messages out somehow if you want to keep them. You could forward important ones to your new email address. Trash the rest.
Gmail takes some getting used to, but I do think it is a great system. It is not like any other email system out there.  If you were just coming to it without trying to switch accounts, you'll probably find it easier to get used to.

Adam, will there be any way for us to transfer info from the c3vetteregistry e-mail to the new one, or will we have to manually "copy/paste" the addys, and saved stuff?

This will be great...I need more storage space...Tux keeps sending me massive files, and filling my mailbox...

Unfortunately, no. There is no easy way to transfer anything out of the old system.  I'm not going to close the old system till at least the end of the year, so if you need to get stuff out, you have some time to do what you can to get it out.

On the bright side, the new system allows you to connect to your account via Outlook or Outlook express, so you could save all your stuff out of the new system to your local PC if we ever switch out of that system.

You could bundle up several emails at a time and send them from the old email to the new one based on person, type, subject, etc.

That's good...it'll take me that long to move all of it! I just copied a few addys...gonna take a little time!

Thanx for the upgrade, tho! So far, it looks great!

So, about 15 of you have signed up so far.  What are your thoughts about it?  I know one person is having trouble logging in, and one person is finding it hard to adjust to it.

Anyone else have comments about it?
