Well, I'm gonna throw a Spaniard in the works, so here it goes...
The "Non-Corvette" stuff does seem to overshadow the tech related stuff at times, and that's not an issue with me, personally. If it doesn't look like something I wanna check out, I just don't, it's that simple.
Here's the deal, imho....for new members, prospective members, or just folks "passing thru", if the majority of active threads are Non-Corvette stuff, it appears that the site might just be another forum with a bunch of BS, instead of tech help/info. That seems to be the main issue here...folks thinking the site has gotten away from being tech oriented, and more of just a group of jokesters with nothing better to do.
I know in the past, several members have let their memberships expire due to the amount of silly, political, or religious stuff being posted. I, for one, wouldn't want that to still be an issue here.
Ya'll know I'm prolly one the guiltiest when it comes to making jokes, and poking fun in my posts....it's who I am. I also spend a lot of time here reading, and responding to any tech/info threads I might be able to add any helpful info to.
As Adams says, we need to find a happy medium...when I log on in the mornings, and the 24hr active threads page is nothing but new member welcomes, and joke threads, it's kinda disappointing , because I like to see what new problems or solutions someone has come up with overnight.
Subscription only forums, or public access, makes no difference to me, but I do believe the Non-Corvette related forums need to have some separation from the rest of the site.
Just my opinion, for whatever it's worth...

Adam I understand better where you are coming from and it makes sense! I know that both the tech and humor stuff are equally important to the success of the site and to the members. I agree with what you are doing and Joel has done a bang up job of explaining it in a uncharacteristic manner.
I appreciate your being able to work out the e-mail reply. That makes it all good for me. Now I just need to keep my humor controlled for only one thread location....... sigh...... all I can say is I'll try Boss.....

Very well said Joel

First of all, I apologize if I stirred up any unnecessary stuff, or stepped on any toes. Like you said Adam, If you felt this needed opinions before making the changes you would have asked for them. And Joel, I had no idea that we were loosing a number of people due to this issue. That's one of the last things I want to see. One thing I didn't realize before coming off about this is the Chit Chat forum used to discuss things on a more personal level. As far as humor. Yes it has its place or this would be an awful boring world. But I agree its not a good thing to flood the active topics with just humor on a Corvette site.
So as you can see I speak my mind however I do have an open mind. Thanks Adam & Joel for clearing this up for me.
Oh and Joel, Iffin Ya'll be one of the guiltiest fer making jokes an pokin fun, Then I bet I'm guiltier

Now I'll shut-up

Anybody else notice that there has been no posts in the Humor forum since it was created???

hmmmm....kinda creepy, ain't it?
Either people are afraid to or it isn't working right.
Someone post something there.
