Hey Adam,
Very bored at work today(can'tcha tell?) anyway, i think it might be useful to have a setup so that instead of just showing "read posts/posts" and "read replies/replies" also including "posts/replies since you were last here" or something to that effect, i'm checking back a lot and finding that in a day not a lot of people post, something about work or some wierdness like that =) I seem to be going to the same forum and looking at the top five or so posts and going "darn, nobody posted since I checked 20 minutes ago, and I lost track of the number i'd already read"....does this make sense? Feed back guys & gals?

Actually, I'm not really sure what you mean, but let me take a stab at it...

If you are wondering which messages have been posted since you last read messages, the information is already being given to you:

On the C3VR Forums List the column to the left of the Forum Names there is a Mail Box Icon. If the mailbox is Yellow with the flag up, there are new posts in that forum since you last read that fourm. If the mailbox is gray with the flag down, there are NO new posts in that fourm since you last read that forum. In addition, the two columns to the right of the Forum Name specify the number of "Unread" messages and "Unread" replies. These numbers are specific to YOU.

Then, once you go into a Forum, there is a mailbox icon to the left of the message title. If the icon a yellow envelope with a white letter sticking out of it, you have never read that message. If there is an icon showing three white envelopes, there are replies in that thread you have not read. If there is an icon of a closed yellow envelope, you have read that thread, and there has been no new replies since you last read it. Also, to the right of the message title, there is a number showing how many "unread" replies there are in that thread. This number, again, is specifc to YOU.

If you are looking at the list of messages within a fourm, there is a "Mark Read" button at top and bottom of that list. If you click it, any unread posts or replies will be marked read for YOU and all the icons will turn to closed yellow envelopes.

I hope this is what you meant, since it took me 10 minutes to write this response! |wink|

Adam,
I would say I'll never question you again, but that's not true, I always have questions |cool| What I will do is start looking around more, somehow in all my time spent on this site, until you pointed that out I had NEVER noticed the little mailboxes etc....not too surprising considering, but still. Anyway, great job on running these forums to be the best Vette Forums ever! =)

Scot,
Don't feel bad about the question. I asked the same thing. I think Adam has the reply saved and he just keeps sending it to to those of us who can not see the obvious right in front of our eyes ! :-) If he actually ever created a feature and " hid " it in plain sight...say something like " click here for a free membership" ( big bold flashing letters ), people like me would still miss it |smile|
