Topic: Projects Id like to see ...

RE: the new "Members Projects" forum
projects I would like to see:
a. safe use of ramps, floor jack and placement of jack stands
b. oil change and filter
c. basic HEI tune up - plugs, cap, rotor, pcv, fuel filter, etc.
d. setting timing and adjusting the Qjet for mixture and idle
e. brake pad inspection and replacement
f. basic bleeding brake system - nothing fancy
g. valve cover gasket replacement
h. thermostat replacement, cooling check, flush, etc.
all of these "normal maint" items have been explained many times, but saying it with pictures would really help owners at all levels of ability.

As I read the list that Willis wrote I honestly thought they were on the most part way too simple..not what I would think of as "projects".
But after I finished I changed my opinion..
This is a good idea...

For most of us, who aren't natural-born wrench heads (no offense!) these routine maintenance items ARE projects! It's always nice to have someplace to go to look at a picture, and maybe a write up, if you don't have someone in the know you can talk to when you're in the process of doing something.
I'm so afraid to put a wrench to most of the stuff under the hood for fear of making something else go wrong that it's almost debilitating. I hate paying someone else to screw it up, but I'm also afraid to screw it up myself!
Great ideas Willis!
I never think of those as projects. Those are just another day for me. Thanks for the reminder.
Granted, my vette repair is about over for the season. But when the weather warms, I will start shooting more pictures as I do some things.

Interesting comment Ken....
I am just the opposite of you...
I wonder how many of US ...(we are a Fraternity of sorts) do most of our Vette related work (ok its not work) during the summer months or during the winter....
I drive the cars in the summer...only work on them IF something is bugging me or "just not right" with a car... In the winter I go thru each car "fixing" the little things that I have to "adjust" or preforming major
repairs that I have to get done...or want to get done... there is a difference between the have too's and the want too's
Ok Guys.... do you do most of your work in the Summer or during the Winter... Just curious?

Do the projects in the winter & routine maintenance in the summer as the projects tend to take lots of time.
Alan
This year she is in my garage, so I can do those things I didn't get too last summer.
If the cash holds out.
