I turn all of my own wrenches. The only thing that hasn't been done by me was the body work & paint job. I could do the body work but have never shot paint. I did install the ground effects and front / rear bumpers prior to the paint work though.
This winter she will be gettin new gas charged shocks and a shift kit. Along with a chrome B&M tranny pan cover when the kit goes in. I'm sure there will be other things as well but I buy goddies on impluse and don't have anything carefully planned out at this time.

I actually have no place to work on it other than my gravel driveway. No garage. So, it's going to be over 50 degrees, or it will wait.
Tux, you mentioned a chrome trans pan, if I read it right. I have always been told that the chroming causes a pan to retain more heat. Perhaps some other guys or gals can weigh in on the subject. Personally, I don't like to have to clean too much chrome. I go for the easy stuff to keep clean.

Chrome does hold more heat. But it's a small amount. In most cars it won't make enough difference to matter. In extream conditions it can but the heat factor over the edge. But there is that cleaning thing.

Vette(s): 1975 T-Tops,Lite Custom work,Many engine mod. 700R4 trans. body is shaved,17" wheels bf goodrich g-force tires,heavy sway bars front&rear rack&pinion steering,550 slolom springs with gas shocks.
Finned alum. would be a better choise. It would not retain the heat and can look just as good. Just don't bottom-out or you could punch a hole in the trans. pan.
My car is so low that this was a worry to me so I left the old metal one on and painted it Chev. Orange. Looks OK.

You are correct about chrome retaining more heat. A machinist friend of mine is always giving me grief for the same thing. (He is a aluminium kinda guy) I already have the pan from a previous small block. If I had a heat problem I would have a tendancy to worry about it. I have other chrome parts which haven't had an effect on this motor. I doubt that the change of pans will effect the tranny. Typically I don't drive the car much. 750 miles a year has been the max in the 2 years.
I have Chrome acentuators, valve covers, oil pan, breather top, breather tube, brake resivor cover, wire looms, etc...etc... I don't mind the cleaning. It usuasly only amounts to wiping it off.
I like the oil pan because at a quick glance I can see if the gasket had leaked. Nobody really ever sees it but when I had the motor on a stand it was more impressive. Again it was a hand me down from a former small block. I have a kept all of the original stuff for the "next guy" should someone someday want to change it back.
