Dwright, I don't rarely go off topic if at all, I believe this off topic thing started with members straying off at times to being plain stupid, from the response Ive read here on the subject members really don't think it much of a big deal, but rules are rules, in this case I saw a member had a tech problem and I responded with tech answer, not with some stupid off the wall blaber, I think thats the point Adam is trying to get across here with this off topic thing, when I became a member there were close to 1000 members, it was free and when you came on line there was alot of action everywhere with a list down to the floor, thats what I joined for, now its a paid membership for a web club, I don't come on line much anymore but when I do all I see is a bunch of welcome's, a hand full of tech, and mostley chit chat, and there's nothing with that, but as a paid member and goin on 10 years, I don't need to be reminded to stay on topic when I try to help a fellow member with a tech problem because its not in the correct forum.

First of all, we know you're trying to help other members and that's great.
Keith's post in this thread was both stating the problem and asking where it should be posted. It is certainly easier to simply reply to that question here, but it is not the correct forum category or thread for it.
I like that you took the time to follow up in the actual post and point Joe to your answer here. However, Dave is correct in mentioning that your post is not in the correct place.
Dave is just doing his job as moderator to make sure people abide by the rules in place to make keep the site well organized, useful and friendly.
Really, what should have happened is Keith's post should have been moved by a moderator to the proper forum, then edited to remove the "where should this go?" part of the post. Then, there would be no risk of technical replies being in the wrong place. It's not just about your post being in the wrong thread, it's about other's not being able to easily find it.
I will be moving your reply in this thread over to the correct thread and changing things around so it doesn't throw others off track.
Again, thanks for helping Keith. If it wasn't for folks like you, C3VR would be pretty useless.

Having known Dave for some time now and read his reply I belive it was a sarcastic joke...... Like most of us Dave realizes that we know to stay on topic. He was making light of the "Staying on Topic" topic.
Adam's explaination and reply is true to form about why we should stay on topic. But to be fair sometimes what we type and read is flat taken out of context.
