[QUOTE=dwright] Tux,
I agree with your assesment Dave. Only exception would be the usage of my terminology for the word "vote". I will supplement the word suggest to be used in it's place if you like. Especially since all that Adam asked for were those who had an interest. Which you did...
" Maybe it should be made up of Lifetime members only. They have a vested interest.
"You have my interest."
You would be an excellant member on this board..... just my .02.....
Adam wants volunteers. NO VOTING.
Six months is not enough time to get anything done by committee.
I agree with Norsky, 3 members for six months, 3 members for one year, then replacements are for one year.
Maybe these would be the people to bounce ideas off of. But I always felt comfortable sending a PM to Adam.
It may be difficult getting three women, but we must have at least one, to keep their perspective in any decisions.
Just thinking out loud.

I agree with you all, the board should be made up of the widest range of members, male/female, Gold/Standard/Lifer's, East/Central/West. But also think 6 months would not be too short a time span.

I think the "future of C3VR" needs to be discussed in person-face to face in Hot Springs for all those who will be able to attend.THEN after everyone has had time to digest the idea and depending on what was said and by whom, THEN form the board. By the way, what's wrong with C3VR the way it is now? I don't see it as a "club". Why would you want to squelch all the ideas from all the members and limit it to 6 people and possibly stop having as many posts and the freedom that we now have? What is the "Advisory Board" going to "advise" us on? There is so much grey area here that that's pretty much all I can see. All we are doing in C3VR is using this site so that more people can interact for a common interest-it's the way we like and it WORKS! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT??? I think 6 month terms are out of the question, Norsky hit the nail on the head. Also, using the word "vote" by the Advisory Board-does that mean that if they vote for something and it passes without a tie-breaker that it will happen or be over-ruled? Why don't the current people that have been planning things for their "regions" automatically be considered as part of this board. They have the input from people in their area and have been together at different functions and could best represent them. I would be interested once all the details have been ironed out and all the specifics are known.

Butch,
There is a rather small percentage of the membership that will be in attendance at the gathering. That is why there is no "official meeting" this year, nor was there last year. Our forums and email provide a much better method of communicating club issues with the masses.
I do plan to share some info first with members at the gathering, as kind of a "perk" for being there.
As for the advisory board idea... this is in no way meant to be the end all be all of what happens with the site/club. It is not meant to "squelch" anyone's voice! It is more so a way to have point-people for issues. It seems to me that people hesitate coming to me when they have issues. So I figure if there is a "board" they can contact, or any one of the board members (plus me), then they may feel more comfortable voicing their opinions. Also, it will help me keep things more organized, and keep ideas flowing.
The length, I think, is fairly unimportant as long as the people who are part of the board are active members. And if there aren't enough people that feel this is a good idea, or not enough people that want to be a part of it, then it won't happen. It isn't necessary, it is just to try to make things a little more smooth.

I think it's a good idea. Folks just need to think of it as a group of assistance to the president, instead of a governing body.

Think of it more as the Communication Team.....
This should provide better insight to needs of the Registry members. In doing so some of their thoughts / comments / oppertunities can be brought to attention and discussed / resolved in a more timely manner.....
