Hey Gang! |wavey|

Recently there have been a number of e-mails to "The Support Gang" asking for assistance in remembering forgotten passwords. While "The Gang" is more than happy to assist with getting member's passwords reset it does take time away from other things that need to be taken care of here on the site.
|idea| Here's a tip for helping to remember a (temporarily forgotten) password. The Challenge Question/Answer combination is used in many places to make sure you are you (like asking what your mother's maiden name is). Here at C3VR you can use that combination to help you remember your password.

First decide what you would like your password to be. Then simply word your Challenge Question so that the answer you would most often think of is your password. For example,
- new password: green
- Challenge Question: What is the color of money?
- Challenge Question Answer: green

While there are no real restrictions on how you can word or spell your member name or password, remember that using imbedded spaces, special characters, and upper/lower case characters make them more unique (and more difficult to remember! |headscratch| ).

Hope that helps some! |thumb|

That is good advice.

I'd also like to add that if you do forget your password, before you contact support, please try the "I forgot my password!" link on the Login page. This link will take you to a page where you will be asked your Challenge Question. Provided you answer correctly, you will then be permitted to change your password.

If you don't succeed after trying to answer your Challenge Question, then you should contact support.

I've found that writing it down or placing it in a secure section on your computer works great too. |cheers|

Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.
For all intents and purposes, I'm the only user of my computer. I've checked the "save login in my computer" box in the login page, but it doesn't always remember me. Is there an additional step I've overlooked?

I think it depends on which browser you use. I use Mozilla a lot & it has a special feature built into it that remembers passwords independently of checking the save log in box.

Same here. Firefox even seems to be a little faster and more pleasing to the eyes.

I don't have any problem remembering my password but now that we have changed to the new forum, I have to log in everytime I visit the site. Yes I put a check mark. Is this just a problem with my server?

Never mind. I was using the link to the old version in my favorites folder. I have replaced it with the new forum link.
