Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
I guess I'm the only one who is encountering this ANNOYING pop up for Passport.NET when I go to view the Online C3 entries. My computer is set up to block annoying pop ups like these, but either we have a very persistent new sponsor, or the site has been infested!

I could understand after clicking the pop up closed if it came up the next time I logged on and viewed the online show entries, but every 2 or 3 minutes is ridiculous. Especially when you can't do anything until you've closed the window. No sooner do you do that and it pops up again!

You can't tell me I'm the only one experiencing this. Anybody else who just hasn't said anything. It seems to be tied directly to the online show entries, because I can go other places on the site and within the forums and it doesn't pop up.

Adam or the moderators might want to check into this. I'd take a print of the screen and show you just what I'm talking about if I thought it would go through on the forums.

I have Norton's 2003 firewall on my comp and it has a pop ad blocker which you can turn off or on. I have it on all the time and don't get any popup ads at all. what a blessing. plus i downloaded adaware and it gets rid of any cookies that do get into your comp from ads. It will only find 1 or 2 cookies on my comp. My son's comp only has adaware and he has to run it every day and still gets annoying popups. |cheers|

I have the C3 Online Show open in another window as I reply here and I'm not getting any popups. Never have had any when in the site. I get them like mad from other sites, but never from C3VR.

Do you have any other websites open when you have C3VR open? The popups may be coming from one of those or even coming from your ISP.

No pop ups on this computer either. Note that .NET passport is a Microsoft windows function and can be very annoying. I can not tell you how to change it. On this site the only time my pop up alert software notices something 'fishy' is when using the ebay shopping links.

I'm not a computer whiz, but that might be that microsoft messenger deal. You have to disable network messaging, either from the control panel or internet options in IE, I can't remember. Maybe one of the more computer savvy people here will give you the straight scoop. Joe

First, let me start by saying C3VR will NEVER purposely allow pop-up ads or pop-ups of any kind that are not C3VR related. The only C3VR related pop-ups you would get are Private Messages sent by another C3VR member to you.

If you are getting pop-ups they are due to something outside of C3VR. In the case of the .NET Passport login, the only thing I can think of is that it is being caused by one of the photo URLs that someone is using for their entry's picture. And since it is specific to Microsoft, not everyone would get it. So far, you are the only one to experience this problem.

To repeat... C3VR DOES NOT purposely allow pop-ups!

I hate them too!!

... I just looked at the entries, and I think it may have been the link pavco11 was using:
http://msnusers.com/mywebdocuments.71vetteds.jpg

I removed his links. Try loading the entries page again and see if you still get the Passport pop-up.

Thanks Adam, I was also getting the "Net Passport" login everytime I viewed the entries. The change you made seems to have cleared this up. I can stop looking at my system settings now |thumb|
